Except I really don't think Hilary Duff ruined Good Charlotte, if anything they're responsible for her having a couple of tolerable songs.
And, Joel is engaged to Nicole Richie now, and THEY ARE HAVING A CHILD.
All is not lost until Ash Wentzday decide to procreate.
Also, I don't entirely disagree on the 8 months thing, but longer relationships don't always mean anything. Her sister dated Nick Lachey for like 4 years before they got married and look how that turned out.
