My band and I were sitting on our jet. Everyone else was eating, but I wasn't hungry. I was thinking about that guy that had approached me backstage at my last show.

"Hey!" called Evan. "Earth to Avril!" I snapped out of my reverie and looked at Evan.

"Yeah?"

"What're you thinking about?"

I bit my lip. I wasn't sure what to say. If I was alone with Evan, sure, I'd tell him I thought I had a crush on a guy whose name I didn't know. But I knew Jesse liked me, and I didn't want to hurt his feelings; he was my friend.

"Who was that band who headlined tonight?" I asked Evan, figuring that was as inconspicuous as I could get.

"Sum 41. Why?" Matt raised an eyebrow at me.

"Nothing...it's just..." I tried to think of a good excuse. "I think I've seen the frontman somewhere before."

"Who, Deryck Whibley?" Charlie grinned. "The guy's totally in love with you, you know."

I felt myself blush a deep red.That wasn't what I had wanted to hear. I saw an all-knowing grin on Evan's face.

"You like him, too, don't you?" he said smugly.

"Wha-? No!" I stuttered, feeling my cheeks growing hot. I saw Matt grin too.

"Just drop it," I muttered.

I could barely sleep that night. I kept thinking about Deryck Whibley. I knew Charlie and Evan were both right. Deryck probably liked me. And I liked him. But could I have him? He was obviously older than me. After all, my eighteenth birthday was still a few weeks off. I was barely legal. And I was pretty sure that Deryck was 22.

I turned over in my bed. I saw in the bed next to mine, Evan was sleeping. I knew I needed to talk to him. Evan was always the person I talked to when I was having problems. But since it was nearly four in the morning, I turned back over and tried to fall asleep.
