We talked to her for a little bit. She used our phone to call the police and tell them what happened. After the police came and took her down to the station I sank down onto the couch. “This has been one hell of a day.” Avril’s kids were still at our house. We figured that we should give Avril and Deryck some peace and quiet for a few days. We had all eaten; the kids had baths, and were all ready for bed. “Come on kids. Upstairs, it’s time for bed.” They all went into Alex’s room so I could read them a story. As soon as I was done, I tucked them all in and kissed them goodnight.

Chris and I stayed up watching the news until about ten o’clock. We finally went to bed. I woke up at about midnight to a little on shaking my arm. “Auntie Hope, I had a bad dream, can I sleep in here with you and Uncle Chris?” It was Aly. I moved over to let her in, and wrapped her up in the blanket. “What was your dream about honey?” I asked her. “Mommy got hurt while she had the babies. Auntie Hope, I don’t want my mommy to die!” She was crying. I wrapped my arms around her and gave her a hug. “Your mommy will be fine honey. Go to sleep, you won’t have anymore bad dreams.”

About an hour later, a bad storm started. There was thunder and lightening. I woke up to the rest of the kids all at the edge of my bed. “Thank god we have a big bed, come on in guys.” They all climbed into the bed and got under the blankets.

The next day Avril called me at about two in the afternoon. “Hope, you’ll never guess what we just found out!” I was sitting on the couch, watching cartoons with the kids. “What did you just find out?” She paused to catch her breath. “Well, first off I’m a month pregnant like you. Second off, I’m also pregnant with twins!” My jaw dropped. “Oh wow, Avril, this is gonna be fun. We’re both gonna have twins! We’re gonna have our hands full!”
