"Okay, girlies, almost time," I say. I'm standing outside the venue for tonight's concert, and I'm in the middle of a three-way call with my friends.
I decided I would be the one to go in. The girls are back at the cheap motel we found last night. I was also able to find a ticket, even though the seat is about as far from Avril as you can get. But who cares? Like I really want to stare at her for an hour.
"Hey Tina, why'd you need to get a ticket anyway?" asks Kim. "You could just say you're a friend of Avril's. You were once."
"Ew," Jenni chimes in.
"Yeah right, like that would work. I'd need to show them a pass or something."
"No you wouldn't. They'd let you in if you said you were her friend."
"Trust me, they wouldn't let me in. I'll bet lots of people have said that same thing. Security won't buy it."
"Yeah they will! If you say--"
"Kim, can I ask you something?"
"Yeah," Kim says.
"How did you get to be so STUPID?" I yell into the phone.
"I'm sorry! Sorry sorry sorry! I'll shut up now."
"Betina, chill out," says Alicia.
"I'll chill out when I feel like it," I reply. Since she's my second in command, Alicia thinks she can step in and take charge of everyone. It really gets on my nerves.
"Oooh, this is gonna be so much fun!" Jenni says. "When are you gonna sneak backstage and ream her out?"
"Gee, I don't know. Maybe when she GETS OFF THE STAGE? You guys are a bunch of Einsteins tonight aren't you?"
Alicia starts yapping again. "Look, Tina, I think you should calm down."
"I think you should shut your mouth," I snap.
Kim changes the subject. "I can't wait to hear how Avril reacts."
"Well I can't wait to see it!" I exclaim. "Oh, they're opening the doors now. Gotta go. Bye!"
I step into the venue. Somebody scans my ticket and tells me to go up a set of stairs. I get to my seating area, but a teenage girl dressed in red and black is blocking the way.
"Would you move?" I ask.
The girl glares at me. "You don't have to be so nasty."
"Whatever," I mutter as I find my seat.
"Hey!" says a high-pitched voice. Great, another fan. This one looks about 11 or 12.
"This is soooo exciting!" the girl squeals. "I wish I had better seats though. My friend saw Avril last year and she was on the floor!"
Well, yippee for your friend. "Look, kid, I don't even like Avril. I can't stand her," I snap.
"Then why are you here?"
"I'm not telling you."
"Fine. Be that way," the girl huffs.
I ignore her. Instead I think about after the show, when I will finally get to knock Avril off her pedestal.
"You are going down," I whisper to myself, smiling.
