and bunny is so right, I thought the same, that people probably arn't visiting the FanFic section regularly because alot of stories are already established and have like a billion pages to get through before you catch up... I think people should begin to write stories that actually have ends and the basic structure of a story. Beginning - Middle - and End. I tried to end my story, but the readers complaned Lol. I was reading that Tips thread the other day, and I disagreed with alot of it. It's blabering on about how people should include 'Realism' and things. But stories don't have to be realistic... Why can't you just skip from being at a store to at home? Why do you have to know what happened in the car on the way home? That's boring... and also - stories should be a journey into the imagination of the writer, not like an episode of Big Brother. IT'S ALL JUST YAWN.
Woahh. Major babble. Lol. But its all true. Meh.
Please can someone make this thread Sticky? :P Thanks Yous. :]

Oh my god child, you are trying to kill me.
Every story is based in realism. That doesn't mean you can't go crazy and throw in something completely funky, but every story has characters and the characters have to be somewhat realistic. I mean, you can't go completely crazy and have your characters have no real sense of being... human. Your characters have to have emotions, be well-developed, and be somewhat relatable. THEN you can throw in all the funky stuff. Hell, you can write a story about a ghost, a vampire (Twilight, anyone?) a boy wizard (oh haya Harry Potter) or just throw in a million twists and turns that, in reality, wouldn't normally happen, but it works. Obviously, to some degree, some stories are going to be plain crazy and you have to take it lightly, but the thing that makes people want to read a story is finding out about the characters and what will happen to them.
And honestly? No one really has a story going with any absurd qualities, yet I still think that some of this is lacking. You want to write a story that's completely absurd, fine, but no one has and therefore you're going to need to throw these things in. Most of the stories here are about a relationship, and the way they're being written, you can't go crazy and abandon any sense of realism because that's not what you've done with your story.
Also, you don't have to go crazy, but choosing to not state something because it's implied, like that they drove home, is quite frankly bad writing. All you need to say it "They got in the car and drove home." That's it, and that is NEEDED. The reader should be sucked in and hanging onto every word, so if something like that is missing, they got thrown off. And besides, it just doesn't sound good.
You don't need to go crazy with ANY of this, (infact please don't) but it has to be there.
Oh and Seyary, I'm SO sorry I haven't responded to your PM. I've just been busy. I swear, I'll read it tomorow. Really.
