Avril is a Rock Star, not a Pop star.
The difference:
A Rock star uses sexuality in conjunction with their music, its more of a statement its about being free. You will generally see a rock star appear explicit occasionally, but a rock star will never let you forget about the music. A rock star is an artist, they try to adhere to and stay true to their own style, but also attempt to grow within that style.
A Pop star uses sexuality to sell their music, relating to the whole 'sex sells' thing, a pop star has to constantly maintain this 'image' and to stay popular they have to resort to upping the ante all the time, becoming more and more sexual, more and more shocking every time until finally people get bored and discard said pop star. 'Off to the next one'
There is no such thing as a squeaky clean role model.
Avril was never squeaky clean, and she never pretended otherwise, which is why I consider her to be the only role model for young girls. Why I respect her so much.

Which is kind of funny when you think about it, because the "rock" genre is usually thought of the dirty, slutty, "rebel" genre, while the "pop" genre is thought of as the innocent and clean genre.
Other than that, I couldn't have said any of that any better myself...and I agree about the role model deal. I wouldn't mind if my kid tried to be more like Avril than any of the listed pop stars. I don't have a kid though, thank God.
