How much memory do you have?
At least 512 MB of RAM is recommended to run Photoshop CS3

Too many brushes could make the program take longer to load.
I used to have tons of brushes but i deleted most of them. Does it take long to load the list of brushes? Does it load when you scroll down?

If so, you should delete some brushes.

Also, press Ctrl+Alt+Del and have a look at the memory usage before and after entering PS. My computer has only 1 gig of ram im going to get another gig because it gets REALLY slow when using PS and having some windows open. My memory usage gets to like 1,400+MB.

BTW, my computer takes 8-12 seconds to open PS CS3 EXTENDED. Are you serious? 5 mins is way too long!
