When you hear 20-year-old Avril Lavigne belt out a song, listen closely, because - get this - you're actually hearing her sing. In concert the Ontario, Canada native stays clear of such pop-tart territory. Instead she rocks out the old fashion way, with an electric guitar, wearing blue jeans and a T-shirt from her "no lip-synch zone" at center stage.

Tomorrow at the Meadowlands Arena, Lavigne will show off her natural vocal abilities with a live concert program of tunes from this spring's release "Under My Skin," as well as the complicated songs of her 15x platinum album "Let Go."

What do you think of Ashlee Simpson getting caught lip-synching on "Saturday Night Live"?

In a way it was good because it showed that people are doing it on TV all the time.

Have you ever lip-synched?

I've never lip-synched once in my life ... I never will. I'm a singer, and I sing live. That's what music is about. I see lip-synching all the time at awards shows, and it makes me think, how sad. It's a disgrace that this is what music has come to.

Who have you seen lip-synch?

People like Hilary Duff. I've never heard her sing live. Each time I've seen her perform, she lip-synchs. She sings to tracks and they either amp her vocals very low or she just doesn't sing at all. You don't deserve to be there if that's what you do.

Are you saying Duff doesn't deserve her status?

No, I'm just saying that to everybody who thinks lip-synching is OK.

Well, in my opinion, people who lip-synch shouldn't sing at all.. I'd hate it if i'd go see an artist that just would hand on stage - to seeit ; it's not enough... If you can't sing live - don't do live shows at all!
