Celine Dion took a prestigious honor at 2007 World Music Awards that was held yesterday (November 4) in Monte-Carlo, Monaco. The singer was handed Legendary Award, for her voice "soothes the world's hearts and creates smiles of love across the face of the world".

Dion addressed her family in her acceptance speech saying, "Every time I go on stage, it's all of them going on stage with me." She also performed the first single and title track of her album 'Taking Chances' which will be released on November 13.

Avril Lavigne who just won MTV Europe Music Awards took home Best Selling Pop/Rock Female Artist, as well as Best Selling Canadian Artist. However, the big winner that night was Mika who took Best Selling Pop/Rock Male Artist, Best Selling New Artist, Best Selling Male Entertainer, and Best Selling British Artist. Unfortunately he couldn't make his scheduled performance due to lyringitis.

Below Mika is Akon who took three awards at a time, Best Selling R'n'B Male Artist, Best Selling African Artist and Best Selling Internet Artist. "Your are the witnesses to seeing me receive any kind of award for music for the first time in my life," he said while receiving the awards. Rihanna who came to the event in stunning green dress beat Beonce Knowles, Shakira and Cascada to win Best Selling Pop Artist.

Other winners include rock band Mana for Best Selling Latin group, Cascada for Best Selling German Artist, and David Guetta for Best Selling DJ. For more winners log on to WorldMusicAwards.com.

The event that was hosted by TV star Julian McMahon will be broadcast in U.K. on November 7 on Channel 4 and in other 160 countries in the coming weeks.

If you’re in America, you can tune in to see this exciting original program on November 22nd at 8-10pm on MYNETWORKTV, the new young demo Fox channel in association with the world’s number 1 website MYSPACE.com.
I found that it be aired on a local television channel in my US location on a Fox affiliate Nov, 22nd at 8-10pm, Check your local listing for television coverage in your local US area.
The 2006 WMAs reached 6 million record buying viewers in the US over 3 runs on MYNETWORKTV. W9 will be airing the 2007 WMA in France on November 24 in primetime with massive on air promotion. In the UK, the show will air on November 7th on Channel 4. 160 Other networks will air the special around the world reaching 1 billion viewers approximately.
