C’mon Canada it’s time to wake up”
C’mon Canada it’s time to wake up”

I have always had the greatest of respect for the Canadian Junos. At least until this year when I heard that Celine Dion and Avril Lavigne were nominated for almost a dozen awards between them. Yet they won nothing.
That is the same as saying, “Neither of them was good enough.” This in my mind is nothing but hogwash! Both of them are international idols and to even hint that they could not win at least one of the nominations is a real slam. I would have no problem if the Juno organizers were to say, “Listen, we are here to promote new talent and new talent only.” However, until they come out with a statement something like that I think by even letting famous names be nominated with the process being weighted in favour of new talent is not much to say for the Canadian entertainment industry.
Certainly the way things are now is an insult to the trained professionals like Celine and Avril. They are both professionals in every sense of the word and could win any Juno they wanted under normal circumstances.
This is not to take away from the talented stars who did win the Junos. Those winners worked long and hard hours to get to the nomination process and they deserve all the credit in the world. However, I do think it is time for Canadian music officials to make some announcement about the Juno awards so we can put this nonsense to bed and take away the black eyes have that been left on some of our super stars.
I’m Clancy MacDonald.

The juno's nominate people like Avril and celin to give the show prestige and draw in ratings, they hore out Avril for ratings (it was the second most watched juno's ever) Avril should boycott the awards by withdrawing her name from future juno award shows.

The funny part is that FEIST ISN'T A NEW ARTIST.....
No one seems to get that. Just because she has recently gotten more exposure they throw the new artist label at her.
Do some reading: Feist (singer) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

yeah the definatley just use avril for ratings. which is lame. they probably think something like this... its good thing avril is from canada cause otherwise no one would watch. but its sooo true. i didn't watch this year cause sum 41 wasn't there. and i hate broken social scene and i hate feist.

I read the other day in the paper that a lot of people lie on their resumes. I’m not surprised. I say if you’re gonna lie, the resume is the best place to do it. I exaggerated a little on mine. How do you think I got this job? Hey, ambassador could mean many things. If you’re going to lie on a resume you may as well make it a doozie. Why mess around with small stuff? Tell them you were in the secret service. If they ask any questions, all you have to say is, “It’s a secret.” If they insist, just say, “I’ll tell you, but then I’ll have to kill you.”
Actually, the easiest thing to do is to just use someone else’s resume. Including their name. You’ll have to change the phone number so the person doing the hiring calls you, and not the person whose resume you swiped. Of course, make sure that the resume you steal doesn't belong to the person that’s hiring you. "Hey, we both have the same name." "What do you know? We both have the same career goals and special skills including synchronized swimming and stage combat." "Hey, this is my resume!"
I will never make that mistake again. Ellen Degeneres' thought of the day November 15 2007
