Teen Songwriter Gets The Star Treatment At Hard Rock

BILOXI (WLOX) -- She pulled up in a Dodge Durango. Her entourage was her mother and brother. The crowd went into a frenzy as she entered the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

After making her grand entrance, The Hard Rock Café presented 14-year-old Kaylin Giroir with a special guitar, and she even took time to sign a few autographs.
Despite Kaylin's battle with muscular dystrophy, the teen is passionate about writing music.

"I write rap music. I write about what I went through in my life, and how what I think about my life, and things that happen," Giroir said.
Make-A-Wish's Regional Director says Kaylin has a good shot at reaching her goal of being a professional songwriter, especially with her creative ability to think outside the box.

"It is not your typical wish at all. It's easy for us to do the Disney wishes and computers, but we really love it when our wish kids get creative," said Shellie Moses.
During her stay at the Hard Rock, Kaylin will meet one of her favorite musicians, Avril Lavigne.

"She's going to have a private meeting with Avril tomorrow night, which is very great, and an exclusive bonus, which not many people get to do at all. She's also going to be going to Lynn Meadows and participating in a very special play. So from morning until night, she's going to be busy... with a little time to play in between, we hope," said Jessica Dukes, Marketing and Public Relations Director for the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
But for now, Kaylin is just enjoying the spotlight.

Kaylin's wish was granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Like many charitable organizations, Make-A-Wish has taken a hit with the slow economy. If you'd like to help make a child's dream come true, call the local chapter of Make-A-Wish at (228) 575-8691.

I love the fact that Avril is an active member of the "Make A Wish Foundation", it such a nice thing for her to do for other people, and I love Avril for it, Avril is one cool cat .
