It's funny people are talking about alanis, because she used to be a teen pop star, with dance routines in canada (think tiffany) then fell of the radar, and after a few years came back as a "grunge" girl.

Avril has been a fan of madonna's reinvention (changing styles) which probably explains Avril's different styles for each album.

I could see Avril singing "like a virgin" vocaly mid 80's madonna (when her voice was higher) would be a perfect match.

yeah but in fact you can compare her to alanis for let go and under my skin.

I would say that Madonna has been slightly influenced by Avril and Courtney in recent years , just as much as any direct influence she has had on Avril.
She has some good songs I like , "Ray of Light" , for example but Im not a fan. and I wouldn`t want Avril to become any more like Madonna , shes not real in any way ,
I thought I would post this video of Madonna to compare with Avrils tour. her hair the guitar and the way she is dressed reminds me of Av , but that`s not unique
watch about 1.50 when she forgets the words and her backing track is audible , she has always needed a lot of help to sing and perform the music . Madonna has little musical talent but she can put on amazing shows and she is genius at playing the game . I would prefer Avril to be inspired by musical artists and be apart from the pop show girls not just like them .
if she had performed this badly she would be critically trashed but her majesty is praised. ????

Heh, that YouTube clip had awful audio and video quality, but since I really like the song, I thought it was a lot better than I might have expected. You make some interesting and valid points, especially concerning how good she is at playing the game, however one perceives that. As I've said, I really wouldn't want to see Avril copy Madonna, either, and I don't think she will.

For Avril fans who don't like Madonna, I really don't think you have anything to worry about.
