A seeming devotee of Borderline-era Madonna, this Canadian pop-punker was the subject of an amusing YouTube mash-up involving Lavigne's Girlfriend and Madge's Material Girl. What's scary is that it wasn't as jarring as you'd expect -- if the three-chord lovesick rock song ever peters out for Lavigne, maybe she'll bust out a cover of Justify My Love.

Since I love both Avril and Madonna immensely, it is nice to see that Madonna gets some credit for inspiring Avril, an admitted Madonna fan.

The new album Hard Candy comes out TOMORROW!!!

(Funny story 'bout that - I actually had the CD in my hands and tried to pay for it last Thursday at Circuit City, but the cashier said he couldn't sell it to me until April 29th, its official release date. The manager turned red and raced out to the floor to get the mistakenly placed stack of new Madonna CD's back into the storeroom. Whoops!!! )

She can do 'Vogue' 'Papa Don't Preach' or 'Hollywood'. Or even 'American Life' she could do that hilarious rap HAH.


Man, I'm so in LOVE with Madonna's new album. It's crack hahahah. So addictive.

'Heartbeat' (LOVE the bridge "See my booty get down" it's sooooooo good)
'Miles Away' is fucking amazing (though Justin's backing vocals really annoy me, I'm just over him all together)
Makes me enjoy the song less. But it's still good, her vocals shine. Which is important cause she's not known as THE best singer.

I really really love all the Pharrell tracks. I knew he would bring something new to the table, cause Madonna knows what she wants. Most of the Timbaland tracks are tiresome though, I've heard it all before. Keeps using his beats over and over and OVER again. BOOOOORIIIINNNNG

'Devil Wouldn't Recognise You' is Cry Me A river part 232325642513 or to be more specific.. 'Cry Me A River' mixed with 'What Goes Around' and Rihanna's 'Rehab'. The song is so NOT Madonna. And the bridge :/
And 'Voices' is just odd and makes me think of Alladin for some strange reason.
'Dance 2night' is bad too, though I enjoy some parts of it. It's just Justin who's voice bugs me overall.

And it's weird cause Pharrell sings more on all the tracks he did with Madonna, but it doesn't bug me at all. Their voices blend, there's a lot of HOT chemistry there. And I love how he makes a complete different song out of the songs in the middle part. It goes on and on "On and on, on the beat goes."

The record is so good, it really surprised me. Cause '4 minutes' is just AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. I normally don't really like her any way, but I like most of her singles.
I was sceptic though about the whole "Hip-Hop, R&B approach" but it's still very much Pop if not just POP.

Ooh and I also like the bonus track 'Ring My Bell' "Ring my, ring my bell, you can't, ring my bell..."

The only aspect that I'd want Avril to be like Madonna, is having a long and solid career. The rest of things about Madonna, I wouldn't like to see them on Avril. I like some songs of Madonna, but globally never liked her. And new pop girls are always compared to Madonna: Britney, Avril, Christina Aguilera. It always happens...

Avril still has a long way to go.

BTW if Avril ever cover a Madonna's song perhaps it will fit her "I'm So Stupid" from American Life album its like the more rocking song i've heard from Madonna. I can't imagine Avril singing any pop song with Madonna style but maybe a rock version of some of her hits would be cool.
