TORONTO, June 16 /CNW/ - The most-buzzed-about music, themost-droolworthy celebs, and the wildest fans all came together at the 19thAnnual MuchMusic Video Awards last night in Toronto. MuchMusic served up anendless evening of glitz, glamour, thunder and lightening, and thrillingmusical performances where fans raised the decibel level to new ear-deafeningheights. The newly reunited New Kids On The Block proved they can still makethe girls swoon, while Chace Crawford made the crowd melt, and the unlikelycombination of Flo Rida and Simple Plan opened the show with a bang. The kingsof the evening, Hedley took home four awards and international showstopperRihanna left with two.

Thousands of MuchMusic fans weathered the storm at Queen and John to getup close and personal with the hottest acts today. During a torrentialdownpour, the fans waited and screamed for their favourite Canadian andinternational artists who did not disappoint. In another MMVAs first, itrained on the stages, but the fans were determined to have the show go on.

Hedley lit up the sky at MuchMusic HQ in downtown T Dot, along with NewKids On The Block, Rihanna, Girlicious, Simple Plan, Kardinal OffishallFeaturing Akon, Flo Rida, illScarlett, Sean Kingston, and JabbaWockeeZ. Celebrities who made fans crazed on the Red Carpet included ChaceCrawford, Sum 41, Whitney Port, Sam Roberts, Brody Jenner, Melanie C, City andColour, Rainn Wilson, Bedouin Soundclash, Kristin Cavallari, Jesse McCartney,and more.

"The bands and celebs delivered an outstanding show, but the screamingfans made the night," said David Kines, Senior Vice President, Much MTV Group,CTV Inc. "This year, thousands of MuchMusic groupies got to reach out andtouch their favourite stars. The energy topped any and every past MMVAs." "We're here today because we wanna be," said Donnie Wahlberg. "We wantedto do the MuchMusic Awards. We've already sold our tickets in Canada. Weprobably didn't have to come up here and promote it, but it's exciting thatthey want us to be part of this show."

Viewers watched the first ever, online only MMVAs Aftermath headlined byBedouin Soundclash with members of Alexisonfire, The Saint Alvia Cartel, SamRoberts, and The Arkells. This intimate underground party of Canadianall-stars collaborated on classics by The Clash, The Kinks, Bruce Springsteen,as well as some Bedouin originals. Some songs will never be seen again...sohope you saw it live!

The 2008 MMVAs delivered fans all-new ways to join in the party. Duringthe broadcast, viewers in living rooms across the country played along withthe MMVA10k giving one lucky viewer $10,000 simply by answering MMVAsreal-time trivia from home. Another lucky winner, Amy Gonyou, 24, fromWelland, ON, won a full five-day MMVAs VIP pass, which included co-hostingMuchOnDemand, attending rehearsals, a shopping spree, personal assistant, andan MMVAs pre-party before she walked the Red Carpet and mingled with thecelebs in the VIP afterparty. All while a Much camera crew captured the whole experience.
