$5.2 million offer on home sings to Avril Lavigne
(06-22) 04:00 PDT Los Angeles -- The peerless, fearless Avril Lavigne has done what others only dream of: No, not the part about snagging eight Grammy nominations on your first album when you are still in your teens - the part where you list your Beverly Hills-area mansion and somebody gives you a cash offer of $5.2 million just 36 days later. Tears of joy may have even run down her 23-year-old face, trademark thick black eyeliner and all; they certainly would have mine.
Lavigne's five-bedroom, six-bathroom house has 6,864 square feet. It is "nestled serenely," says the listing, on a private lot in exclusive Mulholland Estates. There are tropical gardens with a pool, spa and a north-south tennis court. The kitchen is described as gourmet and opens to the family room on one side and an attached butler's pantry and formal dining room on the other. There is a library.
The house was listed at $5.8 million, but when cash comes calling, it behooves one to listen.
Speaking of listening, many people apparently do: Lavigne's debut album, "Let Go," went platinum six times and included the song "Complicated," which earned the singer five Grammy nominations.
In July 2006, she married Deryck Whibley, guitarist and lead vocalist with pop punk band Sum 41.
