I just post it here because I really agree with this. You know, today's music is so disposable. Well, that's what I think.
Good music is dead
I READ Martin Vengadesan’s column,
The summer hits (and misses) (Music Myths & Legends, Variety, June 22) and I had a great laugh. It reminded me of the days I had to endure the torture of listening to those crappy tunes on a bus, in a shopping mall or at a school event.
Anyway, all I can say about today’s music is that there is no sincerity let alone originality. I may not have the best taste or knowledge but one thing I know is that I am not inspired by what I hear today, both locally and internationally.
We used to have tons of great bands up to the 1990s but since 2000, everyone has been just too obsessed about being different. To put it simply, today’s musicians are trying too hard, which is why you don’t feel any sincerity or inspiration.
You can listen to Led Zeppelin many years from now, but can you listen to Linkin Park in 20 years to come, or Maroon 5, or Avril Lavigne, or that stupid Ashley Simpson? And, yeah, the list goes on.
