Avril Lavigne Promises Exciting Concert

Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne promises to give her fans an exciting concert in Seoul next week, saying her current world tour is ``the best show I've put together in my life.''

Lavigne, who will perform at the Melon-AX Hall Sept. 1, said she's looking forward to seeing her Korean fans again. This will be her fourth time in Seoul.

``Any time I come to Korea, it's been really great. Fans were really excited. I appreciate that, so I look forward to coming back. I think Korean fans are a lot of fun and think they enjoy music. … I'm one of the few artists that get to do that and go all the way there (to Seoul). I try to get up there because I have fans there and to put on a concert for them. It's really important," she said.

One thing that Lavigne promises to be different from her previous concerts in Seoul is the presence of dancers on stage with her. ``There will be dancers. Now that I have three records, I have more singles to pick from. Together, it is the best show I put on in my life and in my career, so I feel really confident about the show. Because I have three records, I get to pick all the strongest songs and put together exciting shows. It's fun and very upbeat,'' she said.

Lavigne is only 23 years old, but she has already sold millions of records worldwide. Since 2002, she has released three albums, ``Let Go," ``Under My Skin" and ``The Best Damn Thing."

Her latest album ``The Best Damn Thing" features a lot of fast-paced songs, because Lavigne said she wanted an upbeat album, which wasn't too serious.

When asked about writing the catchy hit song ``Girlfriend," she said she started writing the song out of nowhere. ``It was really random. I started writing it. It kind of came out of my mouth `Hey, hey, you, you, I don't like your girlfriend,' then I looked at my producer, my co-writer, and I was like `This is really funny.' So we just kind of wrote this song. It's not a personal experience. We just made it up. Singing like I wanted to be his girlfriend,'' she said.

Lavigne, who is married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley, says ``it's cool that we both have the same lifestyle and understand each other."

Having been under the spotlight for the last few years, Lavigne says she's lucky and honored to be able ``travel, have fans and have people hear my music."

The only downside for Lavigne is the lack of privacy. ``I'm not complaining. I'm fine. I think it's not really that bad," she laughed.

Lavigne, who is currently on a world tour, said she loves going on stage and performing before her fans. ``Fans are amazing. I like when I play concerts, everyone is loud and singing and enjoying themselves," she said.

I hope there will be some music/video recordings out of Korea/Taiwan/Japan. The crowd there is always quiet, alias the records will be a lot better than european or american ones.

Thanks. I hope so, too^ but not because their quiet, because the crowds are different than those in North America (talking video wise. Audio, it doesn't really bother me where it was shot because official live stuff is almost always edited in some way.)
