I remember several rumors of Greenday bashing on Avril for reasons that were so ridiculous. I didn't know whether or not they turned out to be true. After American Idiot, they just hadn't caught my interest anymore and haven't been a fan for many years.
I really didn't hear too much of a similiarity between both songs, but I'm no expert, either.

Green Day has never insulted Avril. The drummer, Tre Cool has, but that's what he does. There was a rumor for a while that Blink-182 and Green Day were fighting but then Tom Delonge said, "It wasn't a Green Day thing, it was Tre thing." That's just his sense of humor.
I've read every GD article like I'm sure you've all read every Avril article so I know what they said.
As for the song, I noticed the similarity between it and Weezer's Beverly Hills right off the bat. But it's a simple progression.
well the first 24 seconds sound kinda similar, but i don't no i haven't heard the whole song. But from what i've heard, that little 24 seconds, it sounds like it would be an awesome mashup.
And i was wondering why i love this song so much haha! Kidding ppl......well whatever alot of songs have similar chords etc, but i'm guessing thats what happens when every chord proggresion has been used...........plus i know over 50 songs that all have the same chords throughout the song although they dont sound the same.
But in this case they sound similar while there using the acoustic well probably are the same, they still have difference!
Oh Well thats life in the music industry and they all get through the shit of ppll accusing you of stealing anothers song,
I love Avril and i like greenday and this doesnt bother me at all!

Im not saying I believe they copied her but like I said back when Avril was first being accused of the Girlfriend shit..... Where can bands go with their songs anymore? What hasn't already been done and written for them to avoid and reduce discussions like these..?
There's probably about a thousand songs that have the same rhythm and guitar so really it's not that big of a deal. It is inpossible to make a song these days without it souding like some other song. 21 Guns and Complicated are totally different! It's just the guitar that sounds the same. When you get to the chorus they don't sound similar at all.
My quess is that Green Day is just as astonished as we are. Why on earth would they steal a song when they are perfectly capable of writing music?
