Personally I think this is coincidence, but I did think it was interesting to check out this theory, what do you guys think?
But it really bothered me when everyone seemed to be going after Avril for the same offense, but I never believed Avril was ever guilty of any wrong doing.

It is pretty much the the same and I'm sure Greenday heard complicated before..
But I've heard that the drummer made some bad comments about Avril years ago, so I doubt they wanted to "steal" something from her songs.
Reminds me of the IDHTT intro and the song from Peaches...everybody accused Avril, I wonder if the same thing would happen to Green Day.

The music is like identical, Melody and lyrics are completely different though.
Seeing as Green Day is Avril's favourite band, I doubt even if they did cross those boundaries, that Avril would actually do anything about it.

I don't see a huge similarity with the two, and it's a load of BS to believe that Green Day, one of the greatest rock bands of our time (well, in my opinion) would rip off Avril Lavigne.
They need not stoop that low.

Well. The atmosphere of the song is totally different, so is the meaning, the lyrics and the way its sung. Although the rhythm IS similar, but then similar rhythms are sometimes common anyway, so what's the big deal?
