Interview with Avril in the Joepie ! :)

Yaaay, she is finally in the magazine again anyway, I tried my best to translate it for you guys so here it is ...

Invited your magazine … on the pink tourbus with Avril Lavigne …

If we didn't want to come in the pre-evening of her immense "Best Damn Tour" for a talk ? To be honest we were shocked when this e-mail came to our editing office. Avril Lavigne is namely not the easiest when it comes down to interviews. But look, for once she could do it and she even talked about her husband Deryck!

"Everytime when Deryck leaves I cry bitter tears"

On the 9th of April she was still very pink in Londen, two days later the pink "The best damn tour" caravan to the United States.Today she still has to finish 37 concerts before she finally makes Brussels pink, but the Avril we see now is very fresh and gives us without a problem a tour on her pink (what did you think ?) tourbus. She shows us her refridgerator, her pink bedroom, pink guitars, but somewhere it doesn't seem right. Avril is ... different!

You have changed, Avril ?
'Everyone changes, no ? At a certain moment you grow up and I find that a pity sometimes. Not really the ageing, but the things that hang together with it.You know, as a minor you get easily away with things and sees everyone your bad deeds as youth sins. Once you become older, that doesn't go anymore, so I have to behave myself now.' (laughs)

You were then also a bit of a tomboy in the past ...
'Absolutely ! In that time I could get along with boys better then with girls. Always that whining and gossipping and then especially: that endless business about make-up.No, that was not all for me. I'd rather go out with my brother and his friends: some skating, climbing in trees and just having fun.It's all much more fun then go and play with your dolls in your room.'

Sorry, but now you look a bit of a doll yourself. A rough one of course then ...
(laughs)'Thanks, but that's right. Like I said, I have changed.Well now, I have always had that girly inside of me, but I ignored it for a very long time. I have always worn skateclothes at school, and when I stepped into the music business, I still wore them.'

From rough to pink (Avril's whole tour is in the theme of pink) is very noticable though !
'That's right, and my stylists from the past must look up weird now.When they wanted to put me in different and outstanding colours for photoshoots in the past, I rejected it pertinently.And pink was already totally not done (laughs) What can you do ...'

Now you even have your own, very colourful brand.
'I design my very own 'Abbey Daw'-clothingline now at Kohl's, that's right.Actually that has grown naturally.When I had to perform in the past, I never knew what to wear.Now I do know.'

Something different.We are sitting here on your tourbus.What do you do when we are not around ?
'In the past I didn't have my own tourbus and so I constantly sat with a whole bunch of guys.A different life, even if it was only about eating junkfood constantly. Massive pizza's to be precisely.Now that I have more room to myself, I can organise my eatpattern better and so I eat healthier.Much vegetables, veganistic cream and dito butter and kilo's steamed broccoli.'

Booo-rrringggg! Really nothing fattening anymore?
'Oh yes, but then after the show.After a performance I'm in for a portion of junkfood and I also like to drink a glass of wine.And French fries of course ...and icecreams ... and Burrito's and crips from Canada: you see, I don't eat that boring either.'

We suspect that that is because of Deryck. Does he sleep a lot on your bus ?
'On tour that's not really so simple, but if it works then yes.You know, I behave pretty rough, but actually I'm pretty much a romantic soul.I love Deryck so much and then my emotions can take it over sometimes.I still cry bitter tears everytime that he has to leave.Saying goodbye is still very difficult.'

I have heard that you phone often ...
(laughs) 'Very often ! Actually we talk all day through.When I wake up, I call Deryck directly and after that every few hours.'

Do you find some time in between that for other things ?
'Oh yes, I really like watching movies and besides that I also like to read what people have to say about me on the internet.For example I red somewhere recently that I would be pregnant ...'

Glad that you start to talk about it yourself ...
'That's all nonsense to be clear! Before my 30st I absolutely won't begin with babies.At the moment I really want to focus on my music and on my clothingline.Work enough, if you ask me.And besides, in the evening I still want to have the ability to relax and to crawl in front of the tv in my pyjamas.So euh ... for children I say no thank you for a while.'

Say, Avril, if I understand it well, you're also looking at my job.
(laughs) 'That's much said, but it is true that I want to work later for a magazine as a journalist.Music and fashion are my interests anyway so I think I would be able to handle that.Other then that, I do want to say that I would ony bring the good news.If you look at magazines these days, you directly see the bad news just coming out of it.If I would be a journalist, I would only bring the nice stories.All the big stories, but then only the ones where you can actually really smile about it!'

When 'Abbey Daw'n, the clothingline from Avril, will be sold in our country, we don't know yet, but in July her clothes will be in the American shops.But there is more.Besides clothing, Avril also plans scents and perfume, aftershave, bathsoap, showergel, bathpearls, body lotion, body creme, handlotion and talk.

I thought Avy doesn't read stuff about herself? or does that only apply to reviews?
