I don't see it as cheating, its not a race, no prizes involved, not much skills required on the fans behalf, and besides fans vote multiple times for their favourites....do you think the fans of AI cheated when they voted multiple of times? please....
Some of us just want the video to be #1, its our way of showing support, its a fun thing for us all to talk about and to particpate in, together as avril fans...it's not like we weren't doing it before individually, now we are more or less bringing it out and putting it to community forum
It's not hurting anyone. And those who didn't like avril will continue to not like her, those of us who do will continue to do so. If someone gets put off and starts to not like Avril because some of us have decided to collectively become refresh-avriloholics than that is dumb and ilogical in my mind.
and it's not like it wasn't going to be number one with the rate it was going, we're just helping it get there faster....if this was trully a contest then youtube shouldn't be counting 200 hits per ip.
...like with everything in life, opinions will vary

I'm not here to argue, so please keep it diplomatic. The fact is that it's really undeniable...
I encourage you to read through YouTube's Terms of Services which quite plainly states that automated viewing scripts are allowed so long as they "access the Website in a manner that [does not] sends more request messages to the YouTube servers in a given period of time than a human can reasonably produce in the same period by using a conventional on-line web browser." The views were legitimate as per YouTube's TOS and, as history impeccably dictates, had they not been legitimate views, YouTube would have already removed the offending views.
Unfortunately for you, by YouTube's own definition of a legitimate view, Bandaids did not cheat. If you have an issue with YouTube's definition of a legitimate view, I encourage you to take it up with them.
But what you seem incapable of understanding is that this campaign is far larger than YouTube. As I've only said a hundred times, the haters will always hate Avril - this business isn't about fighting to stay liked, it's about fighting to stay relevant. Thousands of well-liked artists are irrelevant and end up fading from the industry because they can't make sales when it counts. That's why, in the end, all publicity is good publicity. This campaign hasn't changed anyone's opinion about Avril. If you like her, you like her. If you don't, you don't. If Avril's fans using a Youtube viewer to gain 200 views per person changes your opinion of her, chances are you hav a slim grasp on reality.
While your continued regurgitations do aid in Bandaids' attempt to reach 3 million posts by the end of the summer, they are without merit. In the past 6 hours, Girlfriend has gained 40,000 views on EOD. So if you're still unwilling to admit the success of the campaign, I happen to have math on my side. And math doesn't lie.

I’m puzzled…Whats this talk about “hoax” and “cheating”?
It has been standard marketing practice, since the dawn of marketing, to inflate and promote the product. Having fans plot a successful campaign on Utube is no different than any company paying a celeb to put their name to a product. The end result is maximum exposure and increased sales, or in this case increased hits. There are PR people and marketing companies around the world who are paid a fortune to do what Sharifa has attempted. And for once it wasn’t some advertising exec trying to pull a fast one, but the fans, who supposedly care, that are involved.
Another point to note is the potential for increased hits on Bandaids. This could be considered a successful campaign based solely on the fact that more people are talking about the site. That more people will be coming on and viewing the site. And there are big advantages there to the site owners, not just the members. Again its all about getting the name out there. The more hits, the more links, the better.
The funny thing is that Perez himself, despite his criticisms, would use similar tactics continuously to promote his site.
Remember that Utube depends on hits, links and controversies like this one, to make money. News like this must make them grin from ear to ear. Imagine how happy they would be if every fan, of every artist, took the time to attempt something like this. They’d double the entire company profits by the end of the week!
And finally…can you imagine Avril herself?
I would like to think that if she heard about this it would make her smile, or lets face it, she'd laugh and stick her middle finger up at people like Perez.
