Got a message from Charlie himself. This is what he told me:

Hey there,

I also will be replaced for the upcoming Avril tour. Bands change all the time, people go off in different directions. There's no hard feelings anywhere, be sure to know that everyone is happy and doing just fine. It's not like anyone got fired, we're all just into other projects at the moment. Change is not always a bad thing! I'm sure Avril's new band will be awesome and they'll probably do an incredible job supporting her new album and tour.
