Backing Dancers: Does ANYONE Like Them...!?
OK, I know this topic has been touched on before in other threads, but while reading the comments beneath some of Av's recent live performances on youtube, I feel compelled to ask if there is a single person who agrees with Avril's decision (assuming it was her decision) to add backing dancers to her live performances...?

Personally, I think they look out of place & she could do without them. Sometimes on some 'routines' they are borderline embarrassing. It was actually in watching the CBC performance of Losing Grip that compelled me to start this thread. I found myself looking at the screen and asking 'what's the point...!?'

That's my two cents... what about you lot...?

I love them! And not just because I have a bit of a crush on Lindsey

Yeah, I agree that they don't do much for Losing Grip but on other songs I think they add a lot of vitality and life to the performance. More importantly, I like the effect they have on Avril's own live presence. I think with them on stage Avril feels more comfortable and confident in a sense. She seems more free and mobile on the stage to me.

And the fact that she's willing to try new things is a big plus; in her earlier career she stuck with the simple stage set-up and the minimalist approach as a philosophy. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but I think the main message that Avril's delivering right now is this idea of not limiting yourself. As far as I'm concerned, adding the dancers to her show is just another expression of that outlook.

I didnt like how they did on the CBC concert, that they were dancing just next to avril, I think is ok if they stay in their place..
And avril has to stop dancing on Losing grip and everything back but you
