BANDAIDERS: IF YOU'RE SICK OF THE DOWNTIME LOOK HERE

Hey everyone,

So I have some good news and some bad news. The good news: Our host has finally been able to figure out why our server has been experiencing so much downtime. The bad news: We're being DDOS attacked.

Basically this means we're going to have to invest in DDOS prevention measures which isn't going to be cheap. From the articles I've read so far, it looks like we're going to have to budget upwards of $2,000 for upgrades to the server and to hire on some professional help. And unfortunately it's outside of my own means to pay for it.


The good news is that we do have ways that you guys can help us pay for this (besides the donation option which is always appreciated). You've probably seen the offers that I've posted around the forum on multiple occasions and I'm currently working on a whole list of things that you can do to help us bring in some cash.

So here's what I'd like to suggest: If you want to help out, send me a PM with the country you live in as the subject line. I'll PM you back with a list of offers that you can do. Copy the list into a word browser, and the next time the server goes down today work through the list until I can reboot

Do know you know where the attacks are originating from? Did your server happen to pull an IP address from the attacks?

Hi, Sorry to hear that!! i have never heard of that thing before, hackers yes but not that thing, I have been wondering why the site works for about 20 minutes and then goes off for about 20 minutes or more or so, and its so frustrating as i am on pay per minute 56k and i thought it was my crappy 450 Mhz celeron or the crappy ISP, I didnt know it was something bad going on.

So when it happens i keep trying to get to the site and it costs me tons of cash as its PAY PER MINUTE, so its damn expensive, i cant get broadband here yet, which would be faster and so much cheaper.

I hope you manage to find out a way to stop it that doesnt cost a lot of cash like that, there must be something the server people can do? as its an attack on them too really, and it makes them look bad for not protecting their customers (YOU).

Theres too many a$$ holes on the net, im know im stupid and make crappy posts a lot but i dont know why there are so many people that want to hurt others, id never do that, its like in october i got a damn virus and my pc runs win98 so i wasnt protected against all that new crap that runs under xp etc and so it damaged windows and system and registry, its still messed now, as im using a win98 directory and i copy pasted it into this one so now the registry doesnt match the programs lol but at least i can connect, i cant do much else, but at least its easier to pass the time while my injuries heal. anyways im glad you made the post as i thought it was my PC and so I hope you can sort it, i dont know what to do, but if you need help with something i will try and help if i can do.

well how can you u stop this. even with prevention equipment its still unlikly that the site stays up if the ddos attacks keep going on, Coz if 1 ddos attack fails, they gonna try it with a bigger group and server will crash then for sure. or the packet filter programm. Or do you think this is actually really gonna help?

This was a long time ago.

I don't think we have that problem anymore I think it's more on the lines of site modification because during DDOs the site would go down for hours and even one time weeks. So I would think that it is just simple site modifications for example the new google ads being added.

aah owke, coz this week there were several down times, and when i saw this topic i thought there were still ddos attacks lool thanks for clearing this up
