this is true but mediatraffic is still the most reputable organisation that compiles world wide sales. They gather their information from the following IMPORTANT SOURCES: IFPI, NIELSEN SOUND SCAN (USA, CANADA), ORICON & SOUND SCAN (JAPAN), OFFICIAL UK CHARTS COMPANY (UNITED KINGDOM), SNEP / IFOP (FRANCE), MEDIA CONTROL (GERMANY, AUSTRIA, SWITZERLAND), ARIA (AUSTRALIA), AFYVE & MEDIA CONTROL (SPAIN), FIMI / AC NIELSEN (ITALY), ABPD (BRAZIL), AMPROFON (MEXICO), MEGA CHARTS BV (NETHERLANDS), GLF (SWEDEN), VERDENS GANG (NORWAY), AC NIELSEN (DENMARK, BELGIUM), YLE (FINLAND), AFP (PORTUGAL), ZPAV (POLAND), RIANZ (NEW ZEALAND), RIM (MALAYSIA), CAPIF (ARGENTINA)
It is very difficult to get exact figures because you have to rely on individual countries and companies to supply data and there is always a discrepancy between shipped units ie whats held as retail stocks and actual sales. What is safe to say is that Avril has had one of the best debut weeks this year and has made the head honchos at RCA very very very happy.
