Feist might beat Avril on everything . apart from fan choice.
are these determined by sales , industry or fan vote ?

I agree, Feist is going to be a very strong contender. To the best of my knowledge the nominations, winners are determined by the industry. If you work in the music business you can become a member of CARAS (Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences) this will allow individuals to submit nominations and vote for the winners.
The Fan Choice Award is something we can of course be part of. Voting starts on February 6th at Doritos Play
Other nominees in the Fan Choice Category are:
Celine Dion
Michael Buble
Claude Dubois
Nelly Furtado
If we pull together I am sure Avril can win for Fan Choice!
Cheers!

She really only has a shot at Fan Choice and Single, maybe Artist but Celine released two albums in 2007 and both of them individually sold more in Canada than Avril's so that's a pretty slim chance.
She's been nominated for Songwriter almost every year since 'Let Go' and loses every time. Album is just plain out of the question, too.

would it be considered a industry snub then if Avril didn`t win anything other than the fan choice , she might not win that , or is Feist and Celine just to strong .
I don`t know how she compares to other artists in terms of success and respect in Canada.
she didn`t even get one nomination for the Brits and that is a big snub.
funny about Celine , she doesnt sell anything over here.

In my opinion she's lucky to even get this many nominations, but there's no way that she will win them all. Let's face it, The Best Damn Thing is fun but it lacks in quality.
Sum 41 got one nomination, but they're up against Finger Eleven so I really can't see Sum 41 winning!

I wouldn't think so not for one minute anyway, I mean she is as popular now as she ever is I think she might win all 5 awards alloted to her

Hmm. We'll see.
She's popular enough to win Fan Choice, and "Girlfriend" was popular enough to probably win Best Single. She's up against some pretty strong competition for Artist, Album, and Songwriter. If we're speaking in just terms of popularity, Celine Dion could easily kick Avril's ass. Her album sold more than Avril's album in Canada and it's only been out for three months.

It would totally suck if Michael Bublé won anything .
Av has more chance in Fan Choice and Single Award.
