I don't know much about vitro testing or any of the other methods you posted but I imagine there quite abit more expensive than animal testing (though I could be wrong) and if indeed they are more expensive, it will make an allready rediculously expensive perfume even more expensive which would probably make alot less people buy it. Big corperations will always choose the cheapest ways to test their products no matter who or what gets hurt and as long as they can get away with it. I also agree if people were to stop buying animal tested products that corperations would probably look at alternitive forms of testing but sadly most people just don't care as long as they get their product as cheap as possible reguardless if we agree or dissagree with the methods used to make or test it. But again I hear what your saying.

I understand that companies will always choose the cheapest method because then they can have a larger profit margin, but animal testing really doesn't ensure the cheapest end product for the consumer. If you look at Olay skin products for an example they are nearly the most expensive, if not THE most expensive, drugstore skin product brands on the market.
This really isn't about consumers being cheap. It's about companies being cheap and consumers being ignorant and unconcerned about how their products were made. I hear what you're saying too and ultimately I think it will be the consumers who will have to take the first step to ending this vicious cycle. What really gets me is that Avril and her perfume are not helping AT ALL. If anything, she is perpetuating this cruelty.

The animals get hurt. What, do you think they spray the perfume in the air and see if the animals like the smell? Because that's really not the kind of testing they do.
There's no way you are 24 years old. Maybe you have finally admitted that you're not, I don't really know because I haven't been here in awhile. I would be very surprised to hear that you're above 10 years old.

Britney Spears probably got a better licensing deal than Avril, actually. Companies have realized that celebrity perfumes don't really have staying power and she signed her deal in 2003/2004ish when that fact wasn't so apparent. Her fragrance was actually well received by critics and won a few awards. I honestly can't see that happening for this Avril Lavigne P&G "Prestige" thing.
And a licensing deal is a licensing deal, regardless of whether it's Britney Spears or Avril Lavigne. Same crap, different person. If you had actually read the WWD article (you do know how to read, right?) you would have seen that the head of marketing for Procter and Game Prestige Products said themself that the perfume would be aimed at young teenage girls. Not all ages. Young teenage girls. Mmmkay?

There's no way you are 25 years old, either. If you are, that's just beyond pathetic. I really do not think you are, though. Perhaps when you finally graduate from middle school you will realize that Avril is not perfect, far from it actually, and maybe you will also learn some punctuation rules and how to form a proper sentence. Good luck with that! You'll need it.
Target market and who can actually buy the product are two entirely different things. I'm not even in my 20's and I could buy a pack of Depends, but are teenagers the target market? No, they're not. Now take this concept and apply it to this perfume.

My bet is that Avril knows and doesn't care. Anybody here can dispute that all they want but until I see some cold, hard facts that Avril was actually dumb enough to not know P&G tests on animals (which is what you have to be to not know that) I'm not budging one bit.
I think we should investigate whether Abbey Dawn is being made in sweat shops. If it is, there is no way she could not know about both of them and she'll have to admit she's just in it for the cash no matter who she has to exploit.
