I have a really good memory and I recall you instructing members of this site to set up an auto viewer sometime in mid-2007, much before the information you mentioned in the link you posted. I'm not even going to look for a link because I honestly don't care enough about message board arguments to waste that much time.

Regardless of whether the auto viewer capped views at 200 per day, it's pretty unlikely that someone would sit at their computer and hit refresh 200 times. Whether the auto viewer inflates the count by 10 views or 10,000,000 views it is still not someone sitting there and watching the video, which is what most people consider the view count to represent, even if that is contrary to YouTube's official policy. I consider that unethical, and I know I'm not the only one.

Even 100,000 votes is a lot. I don't know how you can say that the auto viewer "only" inflated the view count by less than 1,000,000 when 100,000 votes is enough to get a video on the rising video list.

No, that's alright. I think a better strategy would be to get some people auto viewing The Evolution of Dance and see how that would influence the perception of auto viewers on this site. I'm not even going to go there though because that's just wrong on nearly every level, whether people here can at least admit that or not (and clearly they can't).

Go for it - though you'll quickly find that autoviewers don't work. But you'd know that if you read the link I gave you.

I didn't read that link, I never will, and I'm not even going to deny that.

I just don't understand why anyone would even do that for something to be #1 on YouTube. It's not going to make history. Record sales are what really count and, well, I guess that's not working out. Look it up for yourself...
