Atlanta, GA - Phillips Arena - April 18

I went, but I was in the GA section too. It was so awesome!

I guess I post the pics and review here?

Yesterday, April 18th, my best friend, my mom, and I went to Atlanta, GA, to see Avril Lavigne and Boys Like Girls. We were fairly close to the stage and it was so fun. So, about 7:00, the lights dimmed and Boys Like Girls came on. It was insane! They were sooooo hot. I got plenty of pictures. They played Hero/Heroine, Dance Hall Drug, Five Minutes to Midnight, Broken Man, Thunder, and The Great Escape. After The Great Escape, Martin wiped his face with a towel then threw it into the crowd and I got a piece of it!!! Then, they got off stage and we waited for Avril. Around 8:20, the lights went out again and a huge video appeared. Avril's name was spelled out like in the Girlfriend Remix video. Then, it flashed Av, then Ril. So, the crowd chanted Av-ril, Av-ril, for about a minute. Then, the dancers popped out with flags and ran around. Then, the pop princess herself appeared. She rose up from under the stage on this thing. Then, Girlfriend started. She looked and performed great. After that, she sang I Can Do Better. I lost track of the songs after that. It was so exciting. During the concert she played the guitar, drums, and piano. She did great. She looked so cute too. She had so much to offer to the fans, it was amazing. My favorite song she performed was probably I Can Do Better, or I Don't Have To Try. They were amazing. She sounded great. She wore some Abbey Dawn material. It was cool. During He Wasn't, the guitarist was playing and she ran around the stage and lifted her arms. When she did that, everyone screamed. Then, she lowered her arms, and everyone did the same. She did that about 4 times. She crossed her arms and tapped her lips as if she was thinking. Then, she lifted her arms again and we all screamed. After that, she stood in the center of the stage, leaned over and went "shhh." Almost everyone shut up, except for a few guys that screamed, "I love you, Avril!" Then, all of a sudden, she threw her arms up and we screamed as loud as we could. After she did that, she started singing He Wasn't. She had a very commanding stage presence. Then, she closed with the favorite, Sk8er Boi. After that, she bowed, thanked the crowd, and sank beneath the stage on this small platform thing. Then, the lights flashed on and it was over. I got a poster and this cool necklace thing. Me nor my friend could feel our knees from standing up for over 3 hours, but it was definately worth it! It was the most fun thing I think I've ever experienced. To sum it up, I have to say that the concert was definately "The Best Damn Thing!"

One of my favorite parts was Avril rapping/singing the second Lil Mama verse. So awesome! Also, just something that made me laugh was when they brought the drums out, she asked/screamed, "WHO WANTS TO SEE ME PLAY THE DRUMS?!?!?!?!" When people cheered, she asked again. Everyone was screaming and yelling and she goes, "'mkay! *giggle*" in a cute voice. It was so great.

I was there . My boyfriend and I drove several long hours to Atlanta for the concert, and a history conference I had to attend which was a horrible experience, and we listened to Avril most of the way. He seemed to enjoy UMS the most and while we were listening to Let Go, he said he never knew she had such vocal range.... I had to explain to him she doesn't sound like that any more lol.

Anyways, we got to the venue right at the end of Boys Like Girls set, which was fine with me, I was forced to see them once for work and the drummer was a real dickhead to one of my coworkers. We went to the merch table and I wanted some merch sooo bad but I barely had enough money to help pay for food and gas for the two day trip to Atlanta. So I got kind of upset because I didn't want my boyfriend to buy me anything. Unlike Avril (circa TBDT song) I don't want my boyfriend to pay for my stuff I want to do it myself lol. But he bought me the LS black shirt and a pink flag.

We went and got out wristbands and then we went into the arena and stood in the pit for a little while and then we left and went back out to where the merch was and I bought a white flag lol. (There weren't any at the first table we went to).

When I had paid I heard a huge roar from the crowd and I knew it was time so we went running back into the arena just as the screens began to paint A-V-R-I-L on them. I was freaking out, I had waited for this moment for such a long time. It was such a surreal moment for me, to see her after following her on the net and on tv for so many years. It was like some strange realization that she's a real person or something. I teared up a bit. She rocked GF and then went straight into ICDB. I thought she wasn't going to talk to us at first but she did after she went and fixed her in-ears. I can't remember what she said lol.

The pit was over half empty, although the available seating was pretty much filled up, but that was perfect for me because I'm only 5'4 and I was able to stand back away from the stage and be able to see while still being very close to the stage. (sorry if that made no sense I'm tired lol).

To be honest most of the preformance is a huge blur for me. My favourite preformances were WYG and Innocence.... Sk8er Boi.....and well I generally liked the whole thing. And I really liked GF Remix, which I thought I wouldn't.

She didn't talk very much and I got the feeling that she was probably really tired (understandable since she had been on the road for two months).

Oh and this girl fell out in the middle of IAGWIW so I missed half of that preformance because I was worried about the poor girl. I hope she's ok. Someone took her away in a wheelchair.

Another girl kept dancing around the pit. She was having a high ol' time. It was kind of funny to watch. And nice to see so many people enjoying Av's music.

The concert seemed to go by extremely fast, but her vocals were on point and I had the best time. It might not have been the "religious" experience I had when I saw Flogging Molly but it was amazing and my boyfriend said he enjoyed it as well. He even jumped with me during Sk8er Boi lol.

So that's my review and I hope it wasn't too boring lol.

My only regret is not bringing my camera because I know I could have gotten some good video .
