SAINT JOHN - Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne will bring her Best Damn Tour concert tour to Saint John on Friday, Aug. 8.
Lavigne, the award-winning 23-year-old musician who was born in Belleville, Ont., will be touring in support of her third studio album - Best Damn Thing. She will play Harbour Station with backup act American rock band Boys Like Girls.
The tour will also stop in Moncton on Aug. 9.
Lavigne burst onto the North American music scene in 2002 with the debut album Let Go, which included the hit songs Sk8er Boi and Complicated. That album earned eight Grammy nominations and has sold more than 16 million copies worldwide. Her last two albums - Under My Skin released in 2004 and Best Damn Thing released last year - both debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts and Best Damn Thing is certified platinum in the United States with more than 4.5 million copies sold.
