This is my very first Fan Fic and I hope that you all like it.
“Avril,” whispered Deryck softly to his girlfriend who was peacefully asleep. He gently pushed back her blonde hair which was all over her face. He hated to wake her up since she looked so beautifully blissful, but he really couldn’t believe what had just happened.
“Der, what time is it?” Avril mumbled as she rolled over.
“It’s 11.00am sleepy-pants,” he laughed, “but I think that this will wake you up. Take a look.” Avril sat up in the bed and Deryck handed her a magazine.
“Deryck, who cares about this shit,” she started to complain, but then something caught her eye. It was a picture of them in the park that they went to the day before. On the front cover was the headline “Lavigne and Whibley Engaged”. “Oh my God, Deryck. I can’t believe this. We did this fake proposal yesterday!! And it’s already in the media.” Avril started to laugh.
“I thought you’d enjoy that,” Deryck said smiling. Avril always loved playing tricks on the media, and when she suggested that they pretend to be engaged, he was immediately on board with the idea. She was smiling brightly while looking at him in the eyes. Wow, he thought, she is so beautiful, even after just waking up, without make-up or brushed hair. He suddenly looked down, away from her bright blue eyes. Sometimes his feelings scared him because he never thought it was possible to love someone so much. “It was fun to propose to you,” he admitted shyly. Avril lifted his face towards her and gave him a gentle kiss on the lips.
“And it was fun saying yes,” she said. When Deryck reached for her hands to hold, he found the ring that they used in the fake proposal still on her finger. The look of the ring on her hand gave him goosebumps.
“This looks good,” he said, showing Avril her hand.
“Oh,” she said slightly embarrassed, “yeah, I thought so too. It was nice to have it on. But I guess I should take it off, since we aren’t engaged.” She said this last part with a small amount of disappointment that she hoped that Deryck didn’t notice. She certainly didn’t want to rush him into anything he wasn’t ready for.
“I guess you’re right,” Deryck replied. He slowly began to take the ring off of her finger and as he did so, she felt a pain in her heart. Not only did she really want to wear the ring, but the ring was special. Deryck had picked it out by himself, just for her. It was a ring that told her they were going to be together forever. For Avril, it felt like they were breaking up. Stop thinking that, she thought to herself, it was not a real engagement ring, and they were not breaking up. “There,” said Deryck once he had removed the ring from her finger, “I think that’s for the best.”
“I suppose you’re right,” Avril replied, looking away to hide the tears which were starting to form in her eyes.
Let me know what you think!! xoxo
