Alright! Here is my second fan fiction story. I hope you all enjoy it! xoxo
Candles and Christmas lights flickered in my room as I sat on the floor of my room, leaning against the wall. My black acoustic guitar sat in my lap and the pink and purple rhinestones which spelt out my name on the edge twinkled in the half-light. The room wasn’t very bright seeing as the candles and decorative lights didn’t illuminate my room very much. But that’s how I liked it; I always preferred to write songs in semi-darkness. My fair skin was illuminated by the screen of my laptop which sat on the floor beside me. I was leaning over the laptop typing a new phrase of lyrics when there was a knock at my door.
“Come in,” I called out. The door opened and once I had finished typing, I looked up to see who came in. “Hey mom,” I said when I saw her.
“Hi Tia,” she said to me as she came over to me and sat down cross-legged on the floor next to me, “I heard what you were playing. It was amazing.”
“Oh, thanks,” I said blushing. I was always so glad when my parents liked my music. I knew that it was good if they liked it, considering how successful they were. It was one of the greatest feelings in the world to please Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley.
“So, what are you doing Friday night?” my mom asked me, leading into the true reason why she came in to see me.
“I think Travis is taking me out,” I replied with a small smile appearing on my face. Travis was my boyfriend whom I had been dating for five months. I liked him so much and we spent so much time together.
“Oh, okay,” mom sighed with fake disappointment. She stood up and started to walk out of the room.
“Why?” I asked curiously, calling her back, “What were you thinking?”
“Oh, well, I was thinking that if you weren’t busy that you’d like to perform with me on Friday night. Should be a great show, being sold out and all…”
“What?!?” I cried out, “I can perform with you? At a sold out show?” It was rare that my parents let me perform with them, especially at a big show. They always told me I could go after whatever dream I had, but they also wanted to protect me from fame while I was still young. Usually I would only be allowed to perform at smaller clubs or intimate performances. I would always duet one of their songs with one of them, and sometimes play guitar. I was hardly ever given opportunities like this because they would treat me with them. But when I was given the opportunity, I was ecstatic.
“Yes you can, but if you’re busy, then you should go out with Travis,” mom teased with a cute grin showing on her face.
“No, I want to do the show!” I said excitedly. There was no way I was turning this down. Travis didn’t say we actually had plans, but even if we did, I knew he’d understand. He was amazing that way; he was always supportive of me, particular when it had to do getting my musical talent out in the world. “Oh my god! Can Travis come to the show?” I asked hopefully. I really wanted him to see me perform. I always had the greatest feeling when I was on stage, in front of an audience, and if my boyfriend was out in the crowd, I couldn’t even imagine my euphoria.
“Sure he can. But he will have to watch from backstage. It’s sold out, as I said. And now for the even better news.”
“There’s even better news than that?” I asked surprised. She has to be kidding, I thought to myself.
“Yeah, are you ready to hear it?” she asked me smiling. I could tell she was really happy about what she was about to tell me
“Yes,” I said with as much calm as I could manage.
“Are you really ready?” she asked again.
“Yes!” I replied more anxiously.
“Are you really really ready?”
“MOM! Just say it!” I said loudly with excitement. Had I been sitting on a chair, I would have been on the edge of my seat.
“You can perform one of your own songs along with some of mine.”
When those words came out of her mouth, my jaw dropped and my heart nearly stopped. One of my own songs? To a sold out crowd in LA? That would have been the first time that my own music was release to the public, and it was a dream of mine.
“Oh my god!” I screamed. I stood up quickly, threw my guitar onto my bed and ran into her arms to hug her tightly. When I unwrapped myself from our hug, she turned to leave. Standing in the doorway, just about to close the door, she said:
AWEEEESOOOOOMMMMMEEEEE!
