“Avril, what are you doing here?” Judy stated in surprise, when she noticed Avril standing at her door.

“I came to visit you and Dad.” She walked in and placed her suitcase down beside the door.

“This is a surprise, I know you mentioned you would come but I didn’t think it would be this soon.” Judy grabbed a towel out of the closet “You’re soaked honey, use this to dry off.”

“Thanks Mom.” Avril smiled “I missed you and Dad so much.”

“We’ve missed you to baby, but you seem happy with your life these days, so we don’t interfere.”

“I am pretty happy.” I used to be anyway, until Jamieson decided to be so stubborn. Dad is going to be pissed off that he wouldn’t come by and visit, this will just make him more unstable about me seeing Jamieson. DAMNIT JAMIESON! Why couldn’t you just come along with me so I wouldn’t have to deal with this myself? You know they will ask about you I mean you’re all I used to talk about.

“Yeah, you and Jamieson” Judy, leaned over and gave Avril a kiss on the cheek. “Do you need anything, like for the apartment I’m meaning. You and I could do some shopping while you’re here. Mom’s treat. What do you say?”

“I say, thanks Mom. But no thanks, the apartment is very overfull as it is.” Plus I may not be living there much longer the way I flipped out before I left.

“Ok, but the offer is always open.”

“WAIT!” John walked in “I didn’t get to say hello to my baby girl” he smiled, giving her a kiss. “How are you?”

“I’m good Dad, how about you? Things going well down at the shop?”

“Yeah, great. How are you and Jamieson making out? Did he land that deal?”

“Not this time, but he’s keeping his options open. Right now he’s looking for a part time job while he searches for more musical opportunities.”

“Excuse me for worrying baby…” John went off on the limb “But how can you afford and apartment in New York, with only two part time incomes.”

“Dad, we have this all figured out believe me. If anything comes up where we can’t afford it I will get another job.”

“Why would you get two jobs? When Jamieson can get a full time job.”

“I told you Dad, Jamieson wants to be a musician, nothing else interests him.”

“Well my daughter should interest him. He should be supporting you, instead of making you pay for his dream!” John walked out of the room, clearly pissed off.

“Fuck!” Avril cursed.

“Watch your mouth sweetie.” Judy stated “Your Dad is just looking out for you. He’s worried that you can’t make it. I know you can baby, and you know you can but it will take him some time.”

“Yeah, well maybe we won’t have to worry. Jamieson and I had a massive fight before I left.” Avril looked at her mom “He doesn’t have the nerve to come and meet you and Dad in person.”

“Well… maybe Dad and I should come visit you in New York then. Honey don’t break up with someone because he doesn’t come and meet us. I mean he’s not trying to impress us.”

“Yeah… you’re so understanding Mom.” Avril smiled, giving her Mom a kiss. “I’m going up to bed. I will see you and Dad in the morning. Tell him I love him?”

“I will baby, good night.”

“Night.”

I will call Jamieson up and apologize. Mom’s right he’s not trying to impress them. As long as he talks to me about things, and loves me that’s all that matters. I mean eventually he can meet my parents but when were a little more committed and he feels more comfortable.
She dialed the numbers on the phone, and it began to ring…..however….no one answered.

Where did he go? Is he over me already?......No I’m just being crazy. He’s probably just gone out for a walk or something I will call him in the morning.

The Next Morning

“Avril” Judy knocked on the door. “Avril!” she knocked again.
What the fuck it’s like 6:30am what could possibly be so important?

“What?”

“Someone is on the phone for you.” Judy brought the phone over “They sound worried.”

“Hello…” Avril spoke into the phone, almost worried to hear what was on the phone. “WHAT!” Avril yelled, tears in her eyes.

“What! What is it?” Judy sat down on the bed. Avril hung up the phone and jumped up.
“It’s Jaimeson….He…. he…he” she breathed heavy.

“Relax Hun. Now what is it?” Judy asked again, once Avril was calm.
“He’s in the hospital. Stacy told me he was in a terrible accident. It might be fatal Mom.” Avril cried harder.

“Oh my gosh baby!” Judy stated in concern, hugging her. “You want me to come with you?”

“Mom I’m so scared the last time I talked to him we were fighting.” Avril cried. “What if I don’t make it in time?”

“Well if we get moving we will make it.” Judy stated, jumping up.

“You tell Dad?” Avril questioned, still worried about the night before.
“Yes baby, you just get your stuff together and I will grab a few things.”

Why does this have to happen to me? What have I done wrong? All this over a fight this can’t be the end he has to be fine. I don’t want our relationship to end I didn’t mean any of this. This is all my fault if I wouldn’t of left we would have been together and he wouldn’t have been running out in anger. I feel like this now and I haven’t even seen him in the hospital what will I feel like then?
4 hours later
The walls were white and the smell was that of disinfectant. There were patients sitting around the hallways and nurses running around. Avril walked up to the main desk and asked the person sitting their where Jamieson was.
“He’s in intensive care, I’m afraid you can’t see him right now” The woman said.

“You don’t understand” Avril said behind tears “I have to see him!”

“I’m sorry ma’am but it’s strictly not allowed.”

What else could happen? First I never said good bye at home and now I won’t be able to say good bye here. I need him to at least know I love him if anything happens. I’m going to see him and no person in a special uniform will tell me otherwise.

She made her way down the hallway to the large sign that said intensive care unit. She had let her Mom know she was going to the “bathroom”. The rooms all had doors that didn’t have windows and she could hear the beeping of the machines through all the doors. She looked at the signs on the doors but they didn’t have names on them, she didn’t know which room he was in.

Fuck which door is it? I can’t just open anyone someone might be in isolation or something.
She noticed a doctor approaching and asked him if he could tell her at least what room he was in so she could sit outside the door.
“I’m sorry, but this hallway is strictly off limits. We have a lot of doctors running up and down. You might block them or get hurt.”

“I really need to see Jaimeson!” Avril cried harder “All I want to say is that I love him.”

“I’m sorry but it’s against hospital policy you’re going to have to wait in the waiting room.”

“Do you know when he will be able to have visitors?”

“If anything too serious happens you will be notified, as well if he stabilizes more he will be moved into a different unit with visitation.” The doctor informed walking her out to the waiting room. “Now if you will just have a seat, we will inform you of any news. We do have your number so if you don’t wish to stay we can call you as well.”

“I don’t think I’ll leave right now.” Avril stated.

“Whatever you want to do, the coffee and snacks are just down the hall.” He pointed and walked down the hallway.

All I want is to say three words and I can’t tell him. What if he dies not knowing how much I loved him? What he dies feeling unloved? He never got along well with his parents and they never talked to him. That was why he never wanted to meet my parents, parents to him are unimportant; I could have shown him how important they are. I blew it I snapped!
“Avril…” Judy walked over “You needed an escorted bathroom break?”

“I was just going to see if I could find Jamieson but no one will let me see him!”

“I know baby but he’s in intensive care any little slip can cause problems.”

“Does it matter? When I left we were fighting I couldn’t possibly make it any worse.” Avril sighed, leaning her head on Judy’s shoulder.

“Dr. Naitz” A nurse called “The nurses in room 19 are paging, the patient is losing stababilty.” There was loud noises and Avril saw the doctor run down the hallway. He was in the intensive care unit.
She begged it not to be him, but the doctor soon came out with the news…..

Jamieson is pretty commen where i live. But the 1 little boy i no he spells his Jameson.

The doctor approached slowly, as Avril stood up.
“Ma’am you may want to stay seated.”

“I don’t fucking want to be seated!” Avril yelled, shoving the doctor “What the fuck is going on? You won’t let me see him.”

“I’m afraid he lost stability…..” the doctor stopped.

“Lost stability….. but you got him back right?” Avril pleaded.

“I’m afraid we lost him.”
Avril sat in silence, she was so upset she couldn’t even talk to the doctor.

“Ma’am you can see him if you wish, before we take him down.”

“Ok…” she made her way down the white hallway, hearing the machines of the other patients beeping she knew she wouldn’t’ hear any beeping from Jamieson’s room it was too late.
He looks so cold. Sitting on the bed, and this room is freezing.
She walked over to the bed, he sat with his eyes closed and a pale white face.

“Jamieson.” She whispered, hoping that just maybe he would hear her. “I just wish I could have told you how much I love you before you were gone….I’ll tell you now though, I love you more then anything in this world and I’ll never forget you. I’m sorry for everything I said I never meant it you were the one that I always wanted and now you’re gone.” She burst into tears, as her mother walked into the room.

“Avril…baby I think it would be best if we left now.”

“I can’t leave, I left him and before and now this.” Avril cried harder.

“Baby it had nothing to do with you leaving him. This could have happened regardless you can’t blame yourself.”

“He was the one Mom.” Avril stated “He was the one I wanted to be with.”

“I know how much you loved him, and I don’t blame you for being upset…” she was interrupted.

“But you’re making me leave him here, all alone.”

“I just think this isn’t the best place for you to be right now.”

“Where is the best place Mom? The best place I had was being with him at home.”

“I will give you a few more minutes to calm down” Judy walked out of the room.

“Jamieson I guess I’m going home, I’m leaving you here but you’ll always be in my heart.” She kissed his hand, leaving the room in tears.
