Avril and Jamieson went out to dinner that night at a fancy restaurant just down the street from them.
“Order whatever you like” Jamieson smiled “It’s on me”
“Oh is it? In that case I will order the most expensive thing” Avril laughed.
“If that’s what you want”
“Nah, I just like being here with you.” She looked up, and saw bright head lights ahead in the window, it made her think back to the incident and see Jamieson lying in his hospital bed. It felt so real again, he was right before her eyes in his bed. She was no longer seeing him at the table of the restaurant she was sitting next to his hospital bed, closing her eyes tightly to come back to reality. Was the restaurant reality? Or was this hospital room? Which was the dream?
I’m going crazy. What the fuck is the matter with me? Why can’t this all just make sense and be one way or the other? Come on pull yourself together, you can’t have it both ways just let it be one way or the other.
“Avril!” Jamieson lifted his head from the hospital bed “Avril, wake up.”
What do you mean wake up? I am awake, you’re the one lying on the bed, how are you talking to me?
“Avril!” Jamieson spoke louder, till Avril realized she was back in the restaurant, and Jamieson was shaking her to wake up.
“What am I…?” Avril sat up.
“You went totally weird baby, your face was like white as if you saw a ghost then you passed out. Are you ok?”
“Yea I’m fine.” Avril lied.
“Maybe I should take you to the doctor, you hit your head pretty hard.”
“No, no doctors you know how much I hate them. Please I’m fine let’s just get back to the dinner.”
“Ok.” Jamieson helped her up, everyone was still staring at the whole scene.
They ate there dinner quietly and every time a car drove by Avril would have to close her eyes so the vision wouldn’t come back.
I can’t live like this. Thinking back to that nightmare every time I see a car, I wasn’t even there, I was at home I didn’t get to see him until he was in the hospital why would headlights be setting off my visions?
“Avril something is definitely bothering you.” Jamieson stated as they walked into the apartment.
“What makes you think that?”
“That thing in the restaurant, and how you’ve been acting the last couple days. Baby you’re looking at me like I’m not standing in front of you like I’m not here.”
“I…” Avril stopped.
“I’m sorry about the fight, I understand if you’re still mad, but you don’t seem mad sometimes that’s what makes me wonder.”
“It’s not the fight Jamieson.” She looked down I have to tell him about the dream or whatever it was. Maybe if I could just talk to him the dreams would stop because he would say Avril I’m right here and I’m not going anywhere. That seems almost impossible but anything could work instead of having this messed up image in my head. Something that seemed so real a few days ago and now just interrupts my happiness with Jamieson.“Jamieson, I have to tell you something….”
