"Av?" I walked into the den where Avril was sitting with her guitar on her lap. The weird thing was, she wasn't playing it, just holding it.
Avril put her guitar down. "Mm-hm?" I sat down next to Avril. She cuddled up next to me. I stroked her back gently. "What is it?" asked Avril.
"I talked to Steve." Avril looked scared. She had almost developed a phobia of Steve in the past week.
"Wha-- what did he say?" Avril quivered.
Wrapping my arm around her protectively, I soothed Avril and made her calm down. "He told me why he raped you. And I told him to stay away...for a long, long time."
Avril breathed a sigh of relief. "So I won't have to deal with him anymore?"
"If he listens to what I said."
"I feel so much safer now...thank you, Deryck." I kissed Avril gently. Her lips felt soft and moist; I could tell she had lip gloss on.
"I had to do something," I whispered in between the very passionate kisses Avril was giving me. "I hated seeing you so upset and vulnerable."
"I love you," said Avril, gasping for air in between kissing.
I wrapped my arms around Avril's chest. We kissed for a long time. I don't even know how long.
