Just so everyone is clear, me and Leila have settled the dispute and all is well.

We sat together for some amount of time. I couldn’t keep track. For all I know, it could have been 30 seconds or 30 minutes.
Eventually Deryck turned to me and softly said, “Avril?”
“Mm-hmm,” I responded, leaving the trance I had been in.
“I know you’re worried about Matt, but maybe we should go home,” Deryck suggested. “Babe, I don’t know about you, but I’m exhausted. I’d really like to go home.”
I smiled a little at Deryck. We both knew what he really wanted. And in truth, I was craving it too. So I said, “Sure. Let me say good bye to Amie and grab my sweater.”
The two of us, after almost getting lost in the maze of hospital wings several times, made our way back to Matt’s room. “I think that was record time,” said Deryck. He showed me his watch. “Took us about five minutes to walk a couple hundred yards.” I attempted to control my giggling before sliding the door to Matt’s room open.
“Amie?” I whispered to get her attention. She was sitting next to Matt, with her face cupped miserably in her hands. At the sound of my voice, Amie raised her head and turned towards me.
While picking up my black hoodie from the chair, I told Amie, “Deryck and I are going home for a bit. If Matt wakes up while I’m gone, tell him I love him.” I tied my sweater around my waist.
“Sure thing,” Amie smiled at me warmly. I think her sudden cheerfulness had something to do with the fact that she knew what Deryck and I were going to do at home.
This time, after leaving Matt’s room, Deryck and I took an elevator to the underground parking structure next to the hospital. Why they had placed the garage underground even though no part of it was under the hospital was beyond me.
“You want me to drive?” asked Deryck, while searching in his jacket pocket for his keys. “Son of a bitch,” he muttered to himself. I watched as he stuck his hand into his pockets over and over.
“Uh, Der?” I said. I was really struggling not to laugh at him. “Maybe I should drive.”
“Nah, just give me your keys,” mumbled Deryck. He loses his keys frequently, but mine are always in my purse, where I leave them. Without fail, Deryck always loses things and I never do. It’s part of the “opposites attract” component of our relationship. And actually, I find it really funny when Deryck loses things because he gets cutely agitated.
As if I were performing a magic trick, I pulled my keys out of my purse with a flourish. “Ta-dah!” I sang. I tossed them to Deryck.
“I wish I was as neat as you,” he laughed. He leaned over and gave me a kiss. “I guess the biggest reason to get married is to have someone to borrow keys from.:
I giggled and kissed him back. “Right,” I whispered in his ear. “Except since I have my own keys, the only other explanation for ending up this way is...I love you to death, Der.”

Good update. I saw that apparently the issue is solved, but I just wanted to quickly give my opinion about Leila's user title. Frankly, I don't think anyone should get hurt about it. It obviously was just a joke. Obviously she isn't "The Best Damn FanFic writer". I mean, the world is big. I think it's a shame you removed it, because I thought it was funny. I hadn't even thought about how it could be mean. Anyway. Keep up the updates.

I never thought it was mean, I was only joking! And...stop saying stuff in spanish, you give me weird thoughts that you ACTUALLY talk spanish...waaaaah...you make me go nuts. And cute update! I loved it, that's possibly meaning that Avril is no longer insane. Cuz she is more calm, and now her attitude is better. Good to know she's fine now!
