I closed the front door to my empty house, that was the last time I would see it. There were a lot of good things that happened it his house, I got engaged, conceived my baby and many other good stuff. I walked towards the car and unlocked it with the car keys, what a big comfort just unlock the car with the keys. As I reached the car door and opened it I looked at the house for one last time. It was around 6 pm and starting to get dark and I was driving to Los Angeles, I knew it took a while but I didn't care, I was scared of flying so I drove everywhere. I was so scared that something would happen, because when I flight with my parents when I was little we almost crashed, and I have never flight since.
I was about to sit down in the car as I heard someone yell in the distance, it sounded like someone was yelling my name, I didn't regonize the voice. And then all of a sudden Avril appeared out of the darkness running towards the car. I guess that she decieded to come with then.

" Deryck wait " She said before I sat in the car.
" What, what should I wait for " I asked crossing my arms at her.
" That.." She said swallowing, she was tired after all that running and couldn't talk very fast.
" What, are you gonna come with me " I asked placing my arms on the car roof as I looked at her.
" Yes, does the offer still stand ?" She asked looking down on the ground.
" Sure " I said smiling as I entered the car, and she did the same.
" Thanks " She said throwing her bag in the back seat.
" No problem " I said driving out of the driveway.

" So why don't you fly to Los Angeles " She asked as we left New York. Maybe it was the last time we would come again to New York, maybe the last time we would ever step foot again in New York.
" Because " I said turning on the radio, I didn't feel like telling her, I didn't feel like telling her nothing about me

I find it funny that he's taking her to LA, yet he feels that telling her why he's driving instead of flying is telling her too much about him.

And about the Canadian/American thing, that's cool and do what you want, but I just didn't understand why it was necessary to say their nationality and have the cops be instructed to only aim for Canadians. And I got that Siggy's Bar was a druggie hangout, it was just starting to sound like all the druggies and criminals who would be hanging out there were Canadians (except Avril, I guess).

" Avril, wake up we are here " I said shaking her arm, she was alseep for the most of the trip. I glanced at my arm watch and saw it was 3 am. Wow and I was supposed to be in work around 9 am, but I have slept less before work than that so I was good to go.
" Hhhmm.." She said waking up.
" We are here " I said stepping out of the car as I saw the new house I was going to live in for unknown period of time, it was not big but it looked like a lot bigger than my last house.
" Avril, are you coming " I said as she stepped out of the car.
" Yes " She said tiredly as she followed me to the house.

-- The next day --

" Deryck, welcome to work " The chief said shaking my hand. It was strange not to be named just Whibley, but that had my last boss done since I first started working there.
" Thank you " I said shaking his hand back.
" So this is unit 67, and this is your new partner, John. John this is Deryck " He said pointing to John, he was large and strong, remembered me of Tom.
" Welcome" He said shaking my hand.
" Thank you " I said looking around me, it was bigger precant than my last one, a lot bigger actually.
" So are you ready " He asked taking his coat as we walked outside.
" Yeah " I said nodding my head as we walked outside.
