" Do you think you can sleep in the job Deryck Whibley ? Wait until you hear what the boss got to say about that " I heard someone say in my ear quietly and slowly.
" Wha.., wher... what happen.." I said twitching in the chair after hearing the voice.
" Haha litttle tired are we Der ?" My coworker said laughing at me. He was big and strong and was my partner since he started working here 4 years ago.
" Well I worked until 3 am last night and then came home and slept for an hour, took to shower and came back to work around 4:30. Do you think I'm tired now ?" I said laughing as I stood up from my chair.
" That isn't good you know " He said sitting down on a chair opposite me behind his desk, our desks were opposite eachother.
" Well, I have to work don't I " I said walking to the coffee maker and pouring coffee in the little cup, it was almost full.
" Yeah well work is important, but so is sleep " He said looking at me drinking coffee like it was water.
" Well I see you can't complain, you have done nothing but sleep the last months. And good to have you back Tom " I said placing my arm on his shoulder before I sat down on his desk.
" Well its good to be back " He said taking some files and looking at them.
" So when are you gonna go back on the street " I said taking a large sip of my coffee.
" I don't know, the boss insists that I should take it slow the first days, so he has me in the paper work today " He said smiling as I laughed.
" Well you gotta start somewhere " I said laughing
" Well it just was a shot in the stomach, and I'm fully recovered so I think I can go back on the street " He said pouting as I laughed and stood up and walked towards the door.
" Well like I said you gotta start somewhere " I said laughing as I was about to reach the door.
" Hey Deryck, I have a case for ya, the boss wants you to take it. Its a girl, just barely 18 is in here for fighting and vandalism on a private property. Has been in here before for drug use, drinking illegally, vandalism, fighting, stealing, grand theft auto, prostitution and many more. Can you belive it just barely 18 " He said reading from the file before he handed me the file.
" Prostituion huh ? " I said reading the file, which was pretty long, almost 5 pages.
" Yeah I know, she is in question room B " He said before turning to his job again and I walked out of the room.

As I came in the room I saw a young small and thin black haired girl. She was looking down on the table with her black hair in front of her face. She didn't look up.

" Avril Lavigne ?" I said reading from the file as I threw it on the table as sat down on a chair opposite her.
" Don't call me that, I hate that name. Its Amy now " She said still looking down on the table.
" Why do you hate that name, its beautiful, what does it mean ?" I asked looking at her, her hair was short and dirty, it could see very easily, she hasn't taken a shower in days.
" April in french " She said still looking at the table. I wondered how she looked like.
" OK, that is beautiful as I said earlier. So you have been here before, for drug use, drinking illegally, vandalism, fighting and prostitution and more ? " I said opening the file as reading from it.

" So you are not gonna talk aih, well don't you hurt you neck like that when you look down for so long ?" I asked after she had been stairing down at the table for a long time.
" Not much, and I don't talk to strangers " She said raising her head a bit, but I didn't saw her face completely.
" Oh sorry, I forgot to say my name, that was rude sorry. Its officer Whibley, Deryck Whibley " I said as she raised her head up so I saw her face. It was thin and dirty, and she had large bags under eyes and a black eye. On her left side of the bottom lip she had a swollen lip, it was almost twice the sice the other side was.
" Deryck, with an y " She said with a weird smile.
" Yes " I said nodding my haid.
" That is ridicoulus, Derick is spelled with a normal i " She said with that weird face again with a little evil smile.
" Well I don't find it ridicoulus, thats the way my mom wrote it on the birth certificate and I'm not gonna change it " I said as she rolled her eyes at me.
" Well I do...." She said looking around the room.
" Well then we should just agree on disagreeing right ?" I said smiling as she showed me that weird look again.
" I guess so... Why am I even here, I have done this plenty of times, I don't need to be here " She said standing up and rushing to the door. I saw how skinny she was, she was too skinny if you ask me, that happens when you uses drugs like she has.
" You aren't going out now, I have to talk to you first. When did you run away from home " I asked as she looked back in panic.
" How did you know " She said turning around and walking slowly towards the seat.
" I just know " I said looking at her as she sat down on the seat opposite me again..

I finally got home around 11 pm. This was the first night in many weeks that I got home before midnight. It was a slow day at the office so I got to go home when the boss saw my condition. I think I haven't drank as much coffee today than in my life completly.
I was standing in the bathroom by the sink and brushing my teath, I was going to have an early night. I looked in the mirror and saw major bags under my eyes, I guess the lack of sleep the last days was showing big time. I splashed some cold water on my face and walked to the bedroom.
I saw my big bed with a lot different eyes now, all I wanted was to go to bed and sleep for eternity. Well not for eternity but for a long time.

-- 4 hours later --

" Shit, can't I get few hours to sleep " I said after hearing my phone ring on the nightstand for few secconds. I looked at the clock which only showed 3:35 am. Oh great, now the work was calling. As I looked at the phone I saw it wasn't work, it was unknown number. I wondered who would be calling me at 3 am with an unknown number. As I wondered away I picked up the phone and answered.

" Hello " I said with a low sleepy voice.
" Deryck !!" I heard Avril scream on the other line.
" Avril, its 3 am in the morning " I said turning on the light on the nightstand, the light shined brightly in my eyes, to much light.
" I know, I need you " I heard her say with a crying tone.
" Why do you need me right now " I said rubbing my eyes to keep them opened. I wondered why I gave her my cell phone number in the first place.
" There is a guy here and he wants me, dead or alive. Please hurry !!" She said screaming.
" Alright I'm coming, where are you " I said getting out of bed and putting my clothes on.
" I'm in a bar, called Siggy's bar, hurry !!" She said as the connection broke.

Great only 4 hours of sleep and she of all others had to destroy it. I remembered why I gave her my cell phone number like it happened just two minutes ago.

-- Flashback --

" So I can let you out now, thanks for the chat " I said opening the door as we walked out on the hallway.
" You're welcome " She said walking right pass me as I took her arm and stopped her.
" Wait a seccond, I want you to have my cell phone number, call it whenever you need me " I said writing down my cell phone number on a little paper.
" Why should I get your cell phone number " She said looking strangely at me but took the paper and putted in her bag.
" Because, if you are in any kind of danger call me " I said smiling a little smile as she rolled her eyes at me and walked on.

I know it was against the rules to have any connection to the inmates but we talked in there for a very long time, and I knew she needed someone she could trust, maybe she didn't trust me right now but that would come with time. She was just a little girl that needed help, and I gave her a chance of help from me. And now I was going to save her..

I parked my car in front of the bar she said she was going to be. Siggy's bar, what a name. The bar was a shithole, it looked like that only drug users and rummies went to, they wouldn't care how this bar looked like. As I entered the bar I saw drug users laying on the floor smoking joint, I would have fun here if I was working, but since I wasn't working I'm not allowed to arrest someone. As I walked pass them they showed me the look " what the hell are you doing here " or " what the hell are you looking at ". I looked around for Avril. SHe wasn't in the hallway and not in the big room. I saw down on a bar stool beside the bar table and ordered a drink.

" Can I get you anything to drink" The bartender said walking towards me as I stopped looking around for Avril.
" Scots on the rocks " I said looking at him as he poured the drink as I glanced at the clock. It was 4 am in the morning, I was going to work in only 3 hours.
" Here you go sir " He said giving the drink to me as I drank from it.
" Have you seen a girl here that is 18 years old, with black hair, bags under her eyes and looks like she haven't showered in days " I said looking at him, that was like I remembered her since we last met.
" Ehh I think I saw her with one of our costumers in the VIP room " He said pointing to a door that was in the other side of the room.
" Thanks " I said finishing the drink and I paid for it as I walked towards the door. In front of the door stood a big and strong man, probably a bouncer.

" You can't go in here " He said stopping me when I came near the door.
" Why not, I'm the police " I said showing him my bagde as he moved away.

I looked around for Avril. All over the room people sat on the floor on a little hibby cousins and either drank massivly, used drugs or just sat there kissing like love sick teenagers. I wondered in what group she could be in. As I looked around I saw that look appearing on their faces like I got before when I passed the drug users earlier. I passed loved sick teenager by teenager and Avril wasn't there. I passed rummy by rummie and she wasn't there and at last I passed junkie by junkie and there I found her, sniffing cokaine. I guess that guy didn't show up.

" Well hello Avril, nice to see you " I said looking at her as she and the junkie friends looked at the with hate in their eyes.
" Why are you here, leave me alone " She said lifting up the middle finger at me as she finished sniffing the cokaine.
" You called me almost an hour ago and stole away from me my sleep " I said crossing my arms at her.
" Well why did you come here then " She said looking at me with hate like her friends.
" Because I said I was gonna help you if you would call me and you did so now you are coming home with me " I said walking towards her and grabbing her arm but she refused to come.
" Come Avril " I said pulling her arm harder.
" No, and its Amy " She said yelling as she pulled her arm out of my grib.
" Oh yes you are " I said taking her hand and pulling it with strength.
" Just leave me alone " She said trying to get out of the grib I had on her but I was way stronger than her.
" You are coming with me wether you like it or not " I said pulling her with me out of the bar.
