Avril's POV

Dinner couldn't have gone better. Deryck and I talked and talked and talked. We had so much in common, it was amazing. I had never been with a guy that I could have interesting conversation with for so long. He told me about his bandmates, and I told him about mine. We talked about our favorite movies, music, everything. And by the end of dinner, we could probably have written biographies of each other. We had told each other every minute of our childhoods.

I had mentioned how my mom had brought me up concerning guys, and he seemed to take the hint, because he held the door open for me while we were leaving. He flashed me that adorable smile.

Later, somehow, Deryck and I ended up in the corner of a club, making out. In my mind, I was thinking, oh God, this is going too fast! But it felt so good...so right.

"Avril," whispered Deryck. "Will you be my girlfriend?" I nodded, too absorbed in the kiss to answer. "Want to come into the bathroom with me?" he asked. I followed him, figuring he wanted to make out some more in private.

We ended up in the unisex bathroom together. Deryck had me pinned to the wall and was still kissing me. It was like living all the fantasies I had been dreaming of for the past month. It didn't seem to matter that this was our first date. As cliched as it sounds, I really felt like I had known Deryck my whole life.

Deryck pulled away from me. He had a weird grin on his face. "Man, this feels good."

"Yeah. I know. It feels like it was meant to be or something." Deryck cupped my face in his hand.

"Do you want me to buy you a drink?" he offered. I accepted, and we went out to the bar. After just one round of beer, I felt much freer.

Actually, I was completely shitfaced. I leaned across the table Deryck and I were sharing, giggling, and I burped in his face. Deryck laughed too.

"You're adorably disgusting," he told me with a grin.

We went back to the hotel together. It was a good thing we had taken a cab, because my vision was getting blurry from the alcohol.

"Will you come to my room with me?" asked Deryck. I began to feel nervous.

"Uhm...okay...I guess. I just...." I decided to be blunt with him. "I'm not going to have sex with you."

Deryck looked shocked. "Why would I seduce you like that? I wouldn't sleep with someone I'm interested in on the first date. I only do that with hookers."

I was speechless. That was quite possibly the weirdest thing I had ever heard. I decided to just skip over the line about the hookers and I agreed to go to his room with him.

Admittedly, I was nervous about what he wanted to do in there. He had said he didn't want to have sex, but we were both pretty drunk. I did not want to lose my virginity on a random night.

But I was completely wrong about what was going to happen. I guess I misjudged Deryck. I had assumed he was a reckless, horny, typical rock star.

But he was so sweet! We sat on a couch in his room. There were a few inches of space between us, but it felt like we were so close. We talked even more. This is so cool, I was thinking. I could never be bored with Deryck, I was about to tell Deryck that I wanted to go out with him again tomorrow, but I never got the chance.

Deryck pulled a joint out of the nightstand. I could feel my eyes going wide with shock. He extended his palm towards me.

"Do you want some?"

"You smoke weed?!" I stood up angrily.

"Why is that a problem? I thought you liked to party." I could tell Deryck was confused. What an idiot.

My cheeks were flushed. "I would never touch drugs! Do you know how dangerous they are?!" I stomped over to the door. "And I don't want to date a junkie!"

Deryck's POV

As Avril slammed the door, I felt a sudden sadness and a tugging in my heart. Things were going so well. I like her...a lot. And now she's gone.

I was considering running after her, but she seemed pretty pissed off, and she definitely wasn't the kind of girl I wanted mad at me.

I'll give it until tomorrow morning. I can talk to her then.... I looked at the joint in my hand. I'm in love with her...how could I have fucked up so badly? Oh God...I'm never going to do drugs again....
