this awesome blend was made by my girl Suzee - you rock
This innocence is brilliant
I hope that it will stay
This moment is perfect
Please don`t go away
I don´t want this moment
To ever end
Where everthing`s nothing
Without you
I`d wait here forever
Just to see you smile
Cause it`s true
I am nothing without you

‘Av can you pass the beer please’, Cone requested, finally putting his feet up after a long day in the kitchen.
Avril turned to the beverage table and grabbed two cans of beers.
‘Here, anything else?’ she asked as she handed the beer to Cone.
‘Thanks, I’m good now’ Cone replied, smiling.
Deryck was sitting next to Nurse Hilda chatting about the times he’d spent in the hospital.
‘I didn’t know you have children’ he said.
‘Things evolve very quickly after getting married’ the nurse quoted.
‘Guess I’m still at the early stages’
‘It’s evolving in all the right places’ she uttered almost surely.
Deryck glanced to Avril who was laughing and yakking with her mother, he smiled and said, ‘All the right places’ and held up his beer for a cheer.
‘Before you know it, the walls will be filled with scribbles and toys scattered across the floor’ said the blond and laughed.
Deryck laughed and said, ‘I don’t know…we’re not ready yet’.
‘Just go with the flow young man, go with the flow’ said the half-drunken nurse and turned to the clock.
‘Oh dang 11 already! I have to go. My husband forgot to take the keys again’ she stood up unsteadily and called for her brood, ‘Kids! Time to go!’
‘Are you sure you can drive?’ Deryck said.
‘Did you see me with a car earlier?’ asked the nurse chuckling. ‘I asked the cab for a return service, God you won’t believe how much these services cost nowadays’
Deryck simply laughed, couldn’t be bothered to ask about the service charges.
‘Well thanks for coming again. We really appreciate it’ he said.
‘My pleasure’
Avril saw them and toddled over.
‘Leaving so soon?’ she asked.
‘Yea my husband’s going to freak out if we’re not home before him’ said the blond.
Avril squinted and Deryck, ‘He forgot the keys’ he said.
‘Oh! Okay, thanks for coming Hilda’
‘Meh, no problem. You make fine steaks’
Avril grinned, ‘Thanks to Cone’.
------------------------------------
The clock struck 12.30 am.
‘Who’s up for some card games?’ asked Steve. Amy has been sitting quietly next to him like a loyal pet since they arrived.
‘I’m so damn tired’ Cone uttered.
‘Come on, just one game…or maybe two’ Steve pleaded.
‘I’ll play’ Evan jumped in.
‘Me too’ said Matt.
‘Count me in’ Avril’s mother joined in.
Steve threw Cone a puppy face.
‘Okay…two games and I’m off’ Cone gave in.
‘Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about! D what about you?’ asked Steve, shuffling a deck of cards swiftly.
‘You guys go ahead, I have to help Av with the cleaning’ said Deryck.
‘Okay. Alright, black jack people!’ Steve bellowed and distributed the cards.
‘There are some steaks left outside’ said Deryck as he entered the kitchen where Avril was doing the dishes.
‘I think Steve can finish that’ said Avril.
‘Need any help with that?’ asked Deryck.
‘No I’m okay’ she smiled weakly.
‘You don’t look so good hun’ said Deryck. ‘Come let me do this’.
‘Hun, I’m ok. Don’t worry, it’s just dishes. I’m almost done’ said Avril.
‘Are you sure you don’t wanna see the doctor?’ asked Deryck, looking increasingly concerned.
Avril chuckled and said, ‘Relax! I’m just a little tired’
‘Okay, but if anything goes wrong, we’re going to the doctor, no excuses. Okay?’
‘Oooooookay’ Avril replied rolling her eyes.
Deryck kissed her on the forehead and helped her with the dishes.
‘Tonight was great’ he uttered.
‘Yeah, especially the food’ she laughed. ‘Where did Cone learn all that?’
‘His mum’
Avril’s eyes widen, ‘I didn’t know he likes to spend time with his mum in the kitchen’ she laughed.
‘He’s as twisted as he can be’ said Deryck.
Boisterous laughter suddenly broke the semi-silence in the kitchen.
‘What are they doing?’ asked Avril.
‘Playing black jack’
‘Mum’s playing too?’
‘Yeap and I think she’s winning. Look’ Deryck lifted the window blinds slightly.
Avril saw her mother, face pink from laughing and smiled. ‘I don’t get to see her like this often’.
‘Glad she’s having a good time’ asked Deryck.
‘Yeap’ she replied, smiling.
-----------------------------------
‘Bye guys!’ Avril bawled waving to Evan and Matt.
‘Okay warn me next time if your mum is coming Av’ Steve shook his head playfully; ‘She was sucking Benjamins out of my pocket!’
Avril’s mother laughed as she put on her sweater next to the front door.
‘Can’t stop the good luck from coming’ she said.
Avril laughed and said, ‘Are you sure you can drive this late mum?’
‘Yeah, I’m good. I just drank coke’ said her mother.
‘Okay, I’ll see you’ said Avril and kissed her mother on the cheek.
‘Don’t forget about your brother’s birthday this weekend’
‘Yeah I won’t. Drive carefully’ said Avril and waved at her mother.
‘Bye Av’s mum!’ bellowed Steve and then turned to Avril. ‘Thanks a lot for the dinner Av. I have to send Amy home before her mum calls again’ said Steve.
‘Alright, thanks for coming dude’ said Deryck who just made it to the front door.
‘Yea, thanks for coming Steve’ said Avril.
‘No problem! I’ll see you guys, love the steaks’ said Steve and padded quickly to his car with Amy waiting impatiently in it.
‘That girl gives me this weird stare every time I look at her’ said Deryck waving to Steve as he reversed his vehicle.
‘Yeah? How?’ asked Avril.
‘I don’t know…it’s like an eerie kind of stare’ said Deryck, grimacing at the thought of it.
‘You’re just paranoid’ said Avril and laughed.
‘Oh yeah? Wasn’t so paranoid when I thought you gave me “The stare”’ said Deryck and grinned.
‘What “The stare”?’ asked Avril playfully.
‘This stare!’ said Deryck and tickled Avril.
‘Stop it!’ she laughed and pushed Deryck aside.
Deryck laughed, ‘Let’s go to bed hun’
‘Yeah, my body is killing me. I’m sore all over’ said Avril and climbed on Deryck’s back. ‘Up we go!’ she bellowed.
----------------------------------------
‘I’ve been home for more than two months. I think I’m ready to do it now’ said Deryck.
‘Alright, I’ll make the arrangements for next week. Just make sure everyone is settled with everything’ said Tom.
‘I think everyone is ready. Songs are written, melodies are set as well’
‘That’s the spirit! Glad you’re finally back’ said Tom.
‘Feels good to be back’ Deryck replied.
‘So I’ll be seeing you guys next week. Possibly on Monday’
‘Alright, I’ll tell the others’ said Deryck and pressed the end button.
‘All set for recording?’ a voice suddenly asked. Deryck turned to find Avril at the bedroom door. He was sitting on the balcony on a sunny Sunday morning.
‘Yeah, come here’ he said, motioning with his hand.
Avril sauntered to his side and rubbed his shoulders.
‘We’ll be recording next Monday. I’ve got all the songs written. All that’s left are the arrangements’ he added.
‘That’s awesome’ said Avril and sat on Deryck’s lap.
‘Remember the song I wrote for you months ago?’ asked Deryck.
‘Yeah, is it done?’ she asked eagerly.
‘Yeah, wanna hear it?’
‘Shit yes!’ Avril yelled.
‘Okay, sit over here’ he pulled a wooden chair toward his side.
‘This guitar is out of tune’ he said turning the gold tuner of the guitar.
Avril seated herself quietly waiting.
‘Okay, you ready?’ asked Deryck.
‘Yes’ said Avril smiling brightly.
‘Okay, here goes. The melody is not properly arranged yet’ he said.
‘Just sing it’ she prompted.
‘Okay okay, I’ll do it slow’
Deryck began to strum the first few chords of the song and sang it softly. At the end of the song Avril gave him a kiss and said, ‘It’s great’
‘Ok my turn’ she then said.
‘New song?’ asked Deryck.
Avril nodded and smiled quietly.
‘What’s it call?’ he asked again.
‘Figure it out after I play it’ answered Avril with a smug and grabbed the pick from the wooden table.
‘Okay’ said Deryck smiling.
‘I always needed time on my own,
I never thought I’d need you there when I cried,
And the days feel like years when I’m alone,
And the bed where you lie is made up on your side,’
Deryck’s smile faded slowly and he began to listen conscientiously.
‘What’s wrong?’ asked Avril in the midst of her song.
‘Nothing, continue!’ he said.
‘When you walk away, I count the steps that you take,
Do you see how much I need you right now’ she paused.
‘And here goes the chorus’ she said.
‘When you’re gone,
The pieces of my heart are missing you,
When you’re gone,
The face I came to know is missing too,
When you’re gone,
All the words I need to hear,
To always get me through the day and make it okay,
I miss you’ she ended it with a chord.
‘So what’s the title?’ she then asked, smiling.
‘When you’re gone’ Deryck answered swiftly.
‘Bingo! What do you think of it?’ she asked.
‘It’s beautiful just like you’ he said and stood up to kiss Avril on the lips.
