We got home sometime the next day. It felt like we spent days on the road, but it had only been about ten hours. We had left the condo at about four in the morning, getting home at two in the afternoon. I was dead tired, but had to take care of the little ones when I walked in the door. I knew I was going to have to, it was my duty as a mother. Avril walked in behind me, I didn't know why, considering she really missed Deryck and her own kids. But as soon as we walked in the door we were greeted by Deryck and the kids, not to mention our siblings and cousins. Deryck looked at Avril, and Sam looked at me, at the exact time they both spoke. "Don't ever scare me like that again!" Then they looked at each other with stunned looks on their faces, and broke out laughing. "We couldn't have done that again if we tried." Sam said to Deryck. I smiled at the sight of them laughing together. Sam never really did like Deryck. She always wanted Avril to marry Evan, but Avril knew who she loved. She loved Evan like a brother, but that was all. Deryck was the one she loved the most, he was the one she went to first when she needed to cry. Sam looked at me, and an upset look passed her eyes. "Hope, go upstairs and get some sleep, you look like you're going to pass out. Avril, you go and get some sleep too, you're just as bad as she is. We'll take care of the kids, and have dinner ready for you when you guys get up." Neither one of us took a second to think this through, we were too tired. About an hour after I went upstairs and crawled into my bed, I heard the doorbell. "Let someone else get it." Was all I said before falling back to sleep. My dreams were full of tears, I didn't know what was wrong, but I knew something was. When I woke up, the dread was still there. God I hate when I get this feeling. What is it this time? It can't be good. I walked out of my room and down the stairs. I heard voices, many of them. But I didn't know what was going on. "Avril, what's going on." I asked before I remembered that she should have been upstairs still asleep. "Hope, come on lets get you some food. Avril's in the kitchen too, she just woke up." Deryck took me by the arm and walked me into the kitchen. "Deryck what's wrong?" Avril and I asked at the same time, we were actually used to talking at the same time. "Well....."
