I got there a split second before the car hit them. Grabbing one in each arm I pulled them out of the way. "Alyson DON'T EVER DO THAT AGAIN." She started crying. The babysitter was still not paying attention. She was on her cell phone and painting her nails. "I'm sorry Aly. But you scared me to death. Do you not see that you could have gotten hit. That car could have killed you." I took both the kids and walked onto the front pourch. "You're fired." I said to the babysitter. "You can't do that. Only Avril or Deryck can fire me and they wouldn't do that." "Well tough shit cause you are going to leave right this damn second before I hurt you." Just then a police officer pulled up. "Shit!" She said very loudly. The police officer came up to the pourch." I just got a call about kids playing in a street. Whose in charge here?" He asked us. "She is sir, but I just tried to fire her for not watching my niece and nephews. I got to Aly and Damien just before they got hit." I said to him. "Well ma'am," He said to the babysitter."you're under arrest for child neglect." Then he turned to me. "Can you take care of them ma'am?" "Yeah I got them." I said to him. He took the babysitter away in hand cuffs.

"Auntie Hope, is Sara ever coming back?" He asked me about his old babysitter. "No Honey. She's not coming back." He looked relieved. "Good, I didn't like her." I saw something in the look he had on his face. A look I knew all to well. "Hey Damien, if I asked you something will you tell me the complete truth?" I asked him. "Yeah, of course Auntie Hope." "Damien, did she ever hit you?" I knew before he even said anything. "Yes, she hit me and Aly." He lifted his shirt and showed me quite a few bruises. "How didn't your mom and dad see that?" I was cursing under my breath. "She gave us baths and got us in PJ's before they would come home. And she usually got us dressed in the morning." "Damien why didn't you tell your mommy and daddy? They could have stopped her. They would have fired her." He looked at me for a second before he answered this. "No they wouldn't have. They like her too much." My heart almost broke at this. "Honey, my god they love you a hell of a lot more then they like Sara. You guys are their kids. They'd do anything to keep you safe."
