Steve’s POV

“Hey Mini-Av, guess what I have here?” I shake the bottle in front of her. It’s exactly 9 pm and Avril told me to feed her at 9 pm. I’m doing great. Anne reaches out her arms and tries to hold the bottle. Wow. Smart baby girl. I hold her in my arms and start to feed her. The moment I put the bottle in her mouth she starts to suck it. “Wow… looks like someone was hungry.”

When she finishes drinking her milk I lay her down on the car seat and carry her to the living room.

“Do you want to watch Cinderella, Mini-Av?” I ask her making a baby voice. Oh my God. I am doing baby talk. Me. Steve Martin Jocz. “Uncle Steve bought it especially for you.” The saleswoman said Cinderella is little girl’s under four favorite movie, so I bought it, I just didn’t tell her my goddaughter was only 5 months-old.

Anne looks at me and opens a big smile.

“I think that’s a yes.” I smile back at her and put the car seat on the couch.

The movie starts to play and when I look at her she is staring at the television with her eyes opened and sucking her thumb. She is such a cute chubby little thing. Taking care of her is really easy. Wait. Changing diapers is not that fun, though.

“Wait a minute here, Uncle Steve is going to take some soda and will come back soon, okay?” I say, but she doesn’t take her eyes off the movie.

I come back with a Coke less than a minute after and sit on the couch next to her.

“You know, I would like to drink some beer… tastes a lot better than Coke, you will understand that someday…” I say thoughtful. “But I’m sure if I did that your mom would probably cut my balls off… and, you know… Uncle Steve really likes his balls.” Anne stares at me with her big blue eyes, just like Avril’s. “Oh shit. I shouldn’t have told you that. Oh! I shouldn’t have sworn either. Please don’t tell your mom that.” She blinks at me and turns her head to the tv again when the little mice start to sing. I hope she won’t remember this conversation when she gets older and starts to talk. It would completely break my perfect “nanny night.”

I watch the movie and for my surprise I like it. Cinderella is really cool. I think I’ve never watched that before, or if I did, I probably was a kid and I don’t remember. Maybe I’ll rent The Little Mermaid and The Beauty and the Beast. Now I have an excuse to watch them.

When the movie is over I see that Anne is sleeping peacefully on her seat. I’m about to lift her up and take her to her crib when the phone starts to ring.

“Hello” I answer.

“Steve? Hi, it’s Av.” Avril says, like I wouldn’t recognize her voice.

“Hey, Av.”

“How are things going?” She asks.

“More perfect impossible. She’s already been fed, diapers changed, a lot of times by the way, this girl has a very good intestine. We watched Cinderella and she really liked it! Seriously! Well, at least I think she did, she was awake practically during the entire movie. Now she is sleeping and I’m going to take her to her crib.” I explain.

“Oh, that’s great!” Avril says relieved. “I have to admit I was a bit worried.”

“Don’t worry, Av. She is fine. I’m the best nanny you could ever find.” I say proud of myself.

“Oh, yeah. I know that.” She says ironically.

“Now go back to your table and enjoy your night with your husband. You both deserve that. Anne is fine, and like I said, if something happens I’ll call you. Now, GO!” I say the last word with emphases.

“Okay…” She says. “And Steve?”

“What?”

“Thank you.”

“Anytime you need…” I say. “Bye, Av.”

We both hung up.

“That was your mommy, she was worried about you.” I say to Anne, who is still asleep. “Like Uncle Steve would let something happen to you.” I shake my head smiling.

I walk upstairs with her in my arms and when I’m laying her down on her crib she opens her eyes and starts to cry. Oh no. She didn’t cry before. Why is she crying?

“Shhh.” I cuddle her in my arms. “Everything is fine, sweetie. Come back to sleep…” Cry. Cry. Cry. What do I do? What do I do? Cry. Cry. Cry. Think Steve. Think!

“Salagadoola mechicka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo, Put 'em together and what have you got, bibbidi-bobbidi-boo” I hear the lyrics coming out of my mouth. How did I decorate that? Oh! She is calming down. It’s working! “Salagadoola mechicka boola bibbidi-bobbidi-boo, It'll do magic believe it or not bibbidi-bobbidi-boo; Salagadoola means mechicka booleroo; But the thingmabob that does the job is bibbidi-bobbidi-boo…”

it was soo fucking funny. At 1st, when I read it so fast, I thought little Anne was asking for beer, i was like..OMGG.hehe.
