Avril’s POV

“Come on, Av! We are going to be late!” Deryck screams from the bedroom.

“Just a minute! I’m almost ready!” I scream back. I’m finishing getting dressed. We arrived really early here in Seattle today and we are going to do the first baby ultrasound. It’s kind of weird, since how I’m traveling all the time, I’ll have to do my prenatal around the world, every time in a different city with a different doctor. But it won’t be a big problem if I have a normal and health pregnancy, which I hope I’ll have.

“I’m ready” I say leaving the bathroom.

“Finally. Let’s go. The cab is waiting for us.” He says and we leave the hotel.

We arrive at the hospital and Deryck and I go talk to the receptionist.

“Good morning, how can I help you?” She asks with a smile.

“Good morning, we are Mr. and Mrs. Whibley, we have a ultrasound scheduled with Dr. Whaitz.” Deryck says and the woman looks at the computer.

“Oh yes, wait a minute and the doctor will be here and take you to the ultrasound room.”

We sit in the couch to wait and a few minutes later a young woman all dressed in white appears.

“Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Whibley, I’m Dr. Whaitz, nice to meet you.” We shake hands. “I’ll be attending you today. Please, follow me.” She says smiling. We nod and go after her.

We enter the room and she asks me to change my clothes and then to lie in the stretcher.

“Mr. Whibley, you can sit in that chair next to her.” She says to Deryck and he sits. He holds my hand and I smile. We are both so excited and a bit nervous, this is the first time we’ll see if everything is alright with the baby.

As soon as the doctor begins the sonogram, a blown image appears on the monitor and we start to listen to a “tun-tun-tun”.

“Those are the beats of your baby’s heart.” She explains to us. I can feel tears coming to my eyes, and when I look at Deryck I see that he also has teared eyes. I discover I was pregnant some days ago, but now, hearing my baby’s heart, it is so real. “And this is your baby…” She points to what looks like a peanut in the monitor. “This is the head, and here you can see the legs.” She shows and now tears are running for my eyes. I’m so amazed.

“Is everything ok with it?” I ask a little worried.

“Yes, everything is great. Your baby measures 1.1 inches and its weight is fine too.” She explains. God… 1.1 inches… it’s so tiny! But I’m glad everything is fine. “I’ll give you a print so you can have the first baby picture. Then, you’re free to go.” She says and then gives us a little black and white picture where if you look at for some minutes you can see the shape of a baby.

“It looks just like you.” Deryck says while looking at the baby picture when we are leaving the hospital. I start to laugh.

“We can barely see anything in this picture!” I say still laughing.

“I can… and I know it looks like you. I can feel it.” He smiles and give me little kiss. I smile back.

“If you say so…” I say and look again at the picture. It’s so amazing that I have a child growing inside me, it makes me feel so nice. It’s incredible how you start to love someone who you never seen more than anything in the world.

I think it´s a great update as always and who cares about medical terms as long as you can understand everything

you know, i always wonder in "avril's pregnant and on tour" scenarios what she would do...maybe she has a doctor that travels with her or something
