New Update:

Avril’s POV

We had lunch with mom, which was amazing, by the way. It’s really going to be very difficult to eat the “plastic” food again after these days here.

Now Deryck and I are going to visit my dad. I called him earlier today to tell we are coming, because I really care about his heart. He is the kind of man you can’t do big surprises, it can be fatal.

“Avie! My girl! I can’t believe you are here!” Dad exclaims when we arrive and gives me a big hug. “And Deryck, how are you?” They shake hands. “Come in, come in. The house is not very organized; you should have said me before you were coming.”

“We decided to come in the last time. How are you, dad?” I ask.

“I’m fine. Today I went fishing with Tim, we catch a huge fish, but we decided to put it back on the lake.” He says proud of himself. But I know my dad likes to make things bigger than they are sometimes, especially if we are talking about fishing. “So tell me, why did you come? I’m sure there is a big reason.” He says and we all sit in the couch.

I look at Deryck with a look “I tell or you tell?” and he totally make a face “You tell.”

“Yes… I have some news…” I start to say.

“Oh! Are you going to live in Canada again? It would be awesome!” He exclaims. It’s not going to be so easy.

“Hum… it’s actually something bigger than that.” I say and he gives me a curious look. “Dad, I’m pregnant.” I say at last.

“You are pregn…” He starts to say with a smile. “YOU ARE WHAT???? But… how did you get… Oh my God!” And then he gives an angry look to Deryck, who holds my hands tightly.

“I’m pregnant… you know… I’m expecting a baby…. You know how these things happen… I’m married for almost two years…” I say in the calmest way I can.

“A baby…” He says so relax now with his thoughts on only God knows where. “So… that means I’m going to be a grandpa?” He says excitedly now. My dad is really weird sometimes. He can go from one feeling to another in, like, two seconds.

“Yeah… I think so…” I say and he jumps from his chair.

“That’s wonderful! Another child in the family! And my first grandchild! I’m really happy for you both!” He says and gives me a kiss on my forehead and gives Deryck a hug. Deryck sighs with relief. “I can see you are doing a good job, buddy!” He says to Deryck, who just nods, shocked about my dad’s reaction and afraid that he could change his mind anytime.

“I hope it’s a boy! I’ll teach him how to fish.” Dad says proudly.

“Dad! I’m a girl and I always went fishing with you. I went with you more times than Matt!” I cry.

“Oh yeah. That’s true.” He says like he just realized that. “A girl would be nice too. I just hope she will be less stubborn than you, honey.” He says to me. I narrow my eyes.

“Oh yeah… my God… two Avrils in the same house? I really hope it’s a boy!” Deryck says pretending he is going crazy. I pinch him. “Ok… ok… I stop. I was just kidding!” He says quickly and my Dad gives him a “You see? Good Lucky.” look.

“Good.” I say firmly.

We have a coffee with Dad and them we come back home, with the promise to back there to say goodbye to him before we leave to US again.
