New Update:
Deryck’s POV
My head is paining so much and I can’t even remember where I am. What did happen? I try to open my eyes but the pain on my head is so strong that I can’t do it. Then I remember something. I was driving… and it was night, I was in a curve when a crazy truck showed up, it was on the wrong side of the road… I try to deviate but it was so close… the truck threw the car to the mountain… and that’s the last thing I remember. A shiver runs through my spine. I was not alone. Avril was with me, but I can’t hear any sound around me. I try to open my eyes again, and all I can see is blurred. I rub my eyes with my hands and it helps a little. I try to raise my head from the steering wheel, it’s so heavy, but I need to see how Avril is.
I slowly turn my head to her seat and my heart stops beating when I look at her. No. It can’t be possible… not her. Not now. Tears are running from my eyes.
Avril’s face is covered by blood coming from a big hurt she has on her forehead, her eyes are closed and both of her hands are on her little bump. She can’t be dead, I repeat to myself. She is just asleep. I want to touch her but at the same time I don’t, I’m so afraid that it confirms something. Why she and not me? Why things have to be like this? She is so young, and health… and she is carrying a child… our child. That’s not fair.
I lift my trembling arm and touch her face. A relief feeling comes to my body. She is still breathing. She is not dead, at least not yet. I need to do something, but I know we shouldn’t move the person after an accident. I need to call an ambulance, but I have no idea which is the emergency number here, we are in Lithuania, I don’t even understand a word of what they say.
I take off my seatbelt. I have to do something; I can’t stay here watching my wife and my baby die. I leave the car and when I step on the floor and try to walk I almost fall. Shit. I probably broke my feet. I look around and try to find something. I see the truck on the other side of the road, it’s completely destroyed, but I can’t think about that now.
There aren’t any cars around and it’s probably 1 A.M or so. I see a phone on the other side of the road some meters away from me. I need to get there, it’s my only hope.
I open the car’s door and look at Avril again.
“Please, don’t leave me. You must be strong. I’ll get some help.” I say to her.
I limp towards the phone and there is a paper with some numbers and strange letters on it. I try to dial the first number on the list, it must be the emergency number. A woman answers in the second ring and when she starts to speak I can’t understand anything.
“Sorry, I speak English, I can’t understand what you are saying, I had an accident and I really need an ambulance.” I say with a shaking voice. The woman says something again and then I hear a man.
“Please, tell me what happened.” He says. Thank God. Everything is going to be fine. He asks me where I am and I see a plate with a “524” on it, and I tell him.
“Please, sir, you need to calm down.. I’m sending an ambulance right now.” He says.
That’s it. She will be fine, she must be.
