Deryck’s POV

“Do you want to cut the umbilical cord, Deryck?” Mary asks me ignoring Avril’s question. The baby is still quiet, and I’m also starting to get worried.

“Sure.” I say and pick up the scissors. I cut the umbilical cord and Mary holds the baby upside down. In the same second she does it, a loud and strong cry fills the room. I open a big smile and so does Avril.

“No wonder she is the daughter of two singers. Nice vocals.” I say and Avril laughs.

“Sometimes it takes a while to the baby realizes she can breathe by herself.” Mary says while cleaning the baby a little and wrapping a blanket around her. “She is big… probably 8.2 pounds. Nice job, Avril.” She smiles at Avril, who smiles back.

Mary gives me the baby and I give her to Avril, who starts to cry when she looks at our little girl.

“I’ll give you some time alone.” Mary says and leaves the room with Sophie.

“Thanks.” Avril says to me without taking her eyes of the baby.

“For what?” I ask raising my eyebrows, also looking amazed to our girl.

“For having a stupid penis full of sperms.” She giggles.

“Anytime you need, babe.” I say laughing and give her a kiss.

“She is so beautiful.” Avril says between the tears.

“She is…” I agree also with tears in my eyes. This is the best moment of my life.

The baby starts to open her eyes slowly.

“Hey, you.” Avril says softly to her. She looks at us with her bright blue eyes, just like Avril’s. Actually, it’s scary how much she looks like Avril. Her eyes, her nose, her mouth, everything.

“She looks just like you.” I say to Avril, who smiles. Then I look at the baby, who is staring at me. “You are such a lucky girl, sweetie… you got mommy’s nose.” I say whispering and stroking her little bald head.

“I think your nose is cute, babe.” Avril giggles looking at me.

“Yours looks so much better in a girl, believe me.” I laugh and kiss her forehead.

“How crazy is that? In some months we will have someone calling us “mommy” and “daddy”.” Avril says with a grin on her face. She is tired after all the pain and the labor thing, but she looks more beautiful than ever.

“I know… it’s so amazing…” I say. “You were so awesome tonight, Av. I’m so proud of you. You didn’t even get an anesthesia…” The birth couldn’t be more natural and I’m really glad everything went well.

“I don’t even remember the pain… she worth everything.” Avril says smiling and kissing the baby’s head.

“We need to give her a name…” She says. The baby closes her eyes again and sleeps peacefully on her mother’s arms.

“Yeah… I think Baby or Little Girl Whibley doesn’t fit her very well.” I joke.

“What do you think about Anne?” Avril suggests and I take a look at the baby and smile.

“Yeah… I like it… she does look like Anne.” I say.

“So… Anne it is!” Avril says happily. “Middle name?”

I look a little more at her. She is really a little beauty with those eyes and that little nose.

“I think it should be Belle.” I suggest.

“Belle?” Avril asks me and looks at Anne.

“Yeah… you know, it means beauty in French. Your name is French, and she is really beautiful, I think it fits.” I smile.

“Anne Belle… I like it.” Avril agrees.

“So, welcome to the world, Anne Belle Whibley.” I say and give a kiss on Anne’s forehead.

Choosing a baby's name is really difficult, even on a fictional story.
I love the name Anne, and I was in doubt about the middle name, I also thought about Victoria as middle name, since that was where she was conceived and after all they pass through it's a victory she is alive, but I think Belle goes better with Anne, and it's cute.
Whatever, they will always call her Anne, anyway.
