Avril’s POV

“Feeding time.” Deryck says entering the room with Anne in his arms.

I rub my eyes and sit on the bed smiling. For the first time in my life, I’m not mad for being awake.

He walks towards me and put Anne in my arms. She is awake and with her big eyes widely opened. Deryck, probably with Sophie and Mary ‘s big help, had bathed her and dressed her in the white clothes with the red hoodie and red shoes we bought for her to wear in the day of her birth.

“Hey, sweetheart… you know… you look really beautiful in this outfit.” I say to her smiling. Anne moves her little arms and makes a complain sound. “Oh, you are hungry, aren’t you?”

I look at Deryck.

“What do I do?” I ask him. I know I have to breastfeed, but it’s not like I’m going to lean her on my breast and she is going to suck it the moment she touches it.

“Sophie is coming to help you.” He says and Sophie enters the room.

“How are you doing, honey?” She asks me.

“Really well. But I’m a bit scared about breastfeeding. What if she doesn’t get it?” I ask worried.

“She might take a little while, but she will get it.” She says smiling and coming close to me. She holds Anne leans her towards my breast and abdomen. Anne opens her mouth.

I look at Sophie surprised.

“Natural instinct.” She explains. It takes a little while to Anne starts to suck it, but she does it and I feel wonderful. It’s such a weird feeling, and at the same time, it’s amazing. You can bring someone to the world; you can feed that little person. It makes me feel so powerful. I can feel tears running from my eyes.

“I feel like I was born for it. I feel like I’ve always been doing it.” I say emotionally.

Sophie smiles at me.

“You’re going to be a great mother. You already are.” She says and I smile. “I’ll leave you alone for a while.” She says and leaves the room.

I rise up my head to look at Deryck, and I see he is looking at us with dreamy eyes.

“What’s up?” I ask bringing him back to Earth.

“That’s nothing. It’s just that it’s most beautiful sight my eyes have ever seen.” He says smiling.
