*OK, same rules apply from the last update, for those of you who can remember that far back. For those who don't....thoughts that aren't spoken out loud are written in italics.*
"Wow.....this looks good," Angela said flatly, staring at the odd concoction of food sitting in front of her.
"Oh, you really think so?," Deryck said, beaming with pride, as he heaped another spoonful of something that looked very similar to noodles, onto Angela's plate.
"I made it myself."
Angela poked at the food with her fork.
"That's encouraging," she mumbled, as she looked at her watch.
10:30....Damn. Avril's not going to be here for another half-hour. I don't know how much longer I can stall for....This guy is freaking me out. He has to be up to something. I mean, I know why I'm being nice to him.....but why is he being nice to me. It doesn't make sense...It just....
"Do you like it?," Deryck asked, interrupting Angela's thoughts.
"What? The food?" Angela asked quickly. "Oh yeah.....It's perfect. You rock. You should totally consider quitting your day job."
"You haven't even tried it," Deryck pointed out, with a laugh. "I went to great lengths to make this meal tonight, you should atleast......"
"Are you trying to kill me, Deryck," Angela interrupted, staring directly at his face.
He looked at her in shock.
"Are you serious?"
He laughed a little bit, but Angela's expression didn't change.
"Oh my God, you
are serious. Why would I try to kill you? I just wanted to get together....so we could talk. That's all I...."
"Well....you're definately trying to do
something," Angela interrupted again, her voice getting louder, and more accusatory. "Why else would you be acting so weird? From the moment I walked in here....."
"
I'm acting weird?," Deryck yelled, pushing back his chair, and standing up. "You've been acting just as weird, if
not, more so. You come in here, all dressed up, looking like...."
"Looking like
what?" Angela screeched, standing up as well. "Look at yourself. Who are you trying to impress? Candlelight dinners....a suit and tie....This is the worst act ever."
"I'm acting, am I?," Deryck sneered, his face burning with rage. "You're pathetic. You're the least genuine person I've ever had the displeasure of meeting."
A silence encompassed the two, as they stood there, on opposite sides of the dining room table, staring at one another.
After what seemed like an hour, Angela shook her head.
"I hate you," she whispered.
And with that, she grabbed onto the edge of the table, and shoved it at Deryck, forcing all of the food, to fall to the floor.
"You crazy bitch, what is wrong with you?," Deryck yelled, moving around the table, and walking towards Angela.
"Get the hell away from me, " Angela yelled back, taking a few steps away.
Deryck ignored her, and walked closer.
"I want you to get out of my house, Angela," he said sternly, pointing towards the door. "Right now."
Angela looked at him, with little to no expression on her face.
"No," she responded.
"I'm going to ask you one more time," Deryck continued, "Angela, I want you to...."
Suddenly, as if a switch in her head went off, Angela charged, knocking Deryck off his feet, and onto the floor.
Clearly in shock. and unable to release himself from Angelas grasp, all Deryck could do, was protect himself from the barrage of fists coming down upon his head.
"Stay away from her," Angela screamed wildly, beating her fists across Derycks face. "Stay away from her."
The struggle continued.
Neither Angela nor Deryck noticed the car pulling into the driveway, but the slamming of a car door, distracted Angela just long enough, for Deryck to gain the advantage.
Using all his weight, and all his strength, Deryck managed to push Angela off of him, and back down onto the floor.
Pinning her arms back, he glared at her.
"You're disgusting," he spat, clearly out of breath. "I could kill you right now if I...."
"Deryck?," a voice interrupted.
Both Angela and Deryck whipped their heads around.
There stood Avril in the doorway, one hand on her stomache, the other, covering her mouth.
Fear, and shock, clouded her eyes.
And although she tried, she just couldn't find any words to say, so instead, she just stared.
Deryck slowly released Angela's arms, without taking his eyes off of his wife.
"Av....baby....this isn't what you...."
"He's crazy," Angela interrupted, tears springing to her eyes, as she stood up and moved towards the doorway. "He was trying to kill me."
Her voice broke, as Avril looked at her with sympathetic eyes.
"Avril," Deryck whispered, "Don't listen to her."
"He's crazy," Angela repeated, moving past Avril, and out the front door.
Lowering her voice, so only Avril could hear, she whispered...
"You need to get away from him."
And with that, she ran out the front door, slamming it behind her.
With tears in her eyes, Avril took a few steps towards her husband, who was still kneeling down on the floor.
"Avril," Deryck began, his voice breaking, "I...."
"Get out," Avril whispered.
"No, Avril, you need to let me explain. She started...."
"GET OUT," Avril screamed, breaking into a full-on sob.
"Get out of my house......"
She pointed towards the front door.
"And don't ever come back."
