The police were getting ready to leave. “Are you Hope Murray?” One of the officers asked me. I nodded. “The kids have family who are willing to take custody of them. An older sister I do believe. Problem is, she’s out of town for about a week. Would you be able to watch them until she gets back?” I nodded again. I had forgotten about Amy, I hadn’t seen her in years. She was about a year and a half older than I was. “Yeah, I’d be happy to watch them. I’ll need to go past their house and get clothes and stuff. I’m sure Amy will go by later to get everything else. Before I go to their house though, I’m going to take Katie back to school. She shouldn’t have to miss her last day of school. She deserves to spend time with her friends.” The police officer nodded and handed me an extra key. “This is to their house. It’d be best if you don’t take the kids with you.” [/font] [FONT='Tahoma','sans-serif']I took Katie back to school, everyone was outside. I took me a few minutes to find Katie’s class. I dropped her off, and then went back to my house. Chris’s brothers were there, along with Catherine, Steve, Cone, and Evan. “Chris, I have to drop off these two, and then I have to go out again.” He stopped talking and looked up. “Two, you left with one, how did you get another one?” He saw Jamie, and then shook his head. “You know what, I don’t want to know.” Jamie went and sat with Aly, The Backyardigans were on. I took Levi out of his car seat hand handed him to his Aunt Catherine. “Levi has an infection that makes him mute. It’ll wear off, but throughout his life it will come back. The doctor said we should teach him sign language when he gets a little older.”[/font] [FONT='Tahoma','sans-serif']With that I left the house. I drove back to Katie and Jamie’s house. I unlocked the door and walked inside. What I saw horrified me. I couldn’t believe my eyes.[/font]
